Rabbits should organise deals with a few teams to play 'away' games at Allianz in the next few years: Dragons, Bulldogs, Bears.. That way until their contract is up at Accor they can still play a bunch of games at Allianz. Hopefully at that point, plans for a full rebuild of Accor will be underway and teams like Souths might decide to split their games 50/50 with Allianz and Accor

Why would the Bulldogs agree to play elsewhere, that's there home ground as well. Doesn't make any sense. And the game it would happen to is one of the best drawing normal round games in the season at the Easter Show. Move that game to another venue and it wouldn't be the same.

Fair, maybe not that game just as an idea some teams maybe it’s manly etc might want to both increase attendance and gate revenue and at the same time it gives rabbits more Allianz games.

The stadium is getting old. At some point the govt will need to improve it. Just hard to sell at this point, but in another 5-10yrs it might be a different story.

Hmmm. Ticketek to lose its contract for ticketing at Venues NSW managed stadiums to Ticketmaster?

The amount of times I've had problems with TM is enough for it's own thread on here, especially since most TM venues are Mobile Ticket Only

It's interesting seeing so many people just straight up dismiss the report because it doesn't fit their agenda.

And put Tassie into horrible debt for a stadium, as well the underwriting the AFL club itself which ongoing is going to cost the state plenty.
The funniest part is watching people use Adelaide Oval or Optus Stadium as an example for it working. Those are cities with over a million people living in it. Hobart doesn't even have half of that yet wants to spend over 1 billion on a stadium lol.

And the other major population centre is Lanceston, which isn't easy to get to from Hobart. Logistically it's a distaster waiting to happen.

Only good thing is that the storm can take a trial match to a better venue in that state. Maybe the Sharks can take a match to a stadium that holds 30k and double there gameday revenue.

$1.8bil would bankrupt Tassie, all for the AFL and a 30k stadium.

Lets see if the AFL still allows Tassie to have a team.

Added an article. It's still not over. Just not recommended.
To me this sums up one of the problems with politics. The stadium is very unpopular with Tasmanians, the independent report says it shouldn’t go ahead and will cause serious harm to the Tasmanian economy and yet both major parties support it.

Comes down to the independents and they were mostly against it

Just need to be downscaled so no roof would do it imo

The roof is only around 300k. So it doesn't bring the stadium costs down heaps. The biggest problem is that Tassie doesn't have the workforce to build it, so the labour costs go through the roof as they need to get all those people housed for the building of the stadium, pay over the top rates for the labour. Then material costs go up, cause that sort of stuff isn't handy either.

If it was in NSW or VIC, the stadium would be about 60% of the cost.

For the record, it's only a 23000-seat stadium, and the AFL has said "No stadium, no team". Over $1 Billion for a 23000 seat stadium is absolute madness, particularly for a small city like Hobart.
That's the AFL way of blackmailing govt's for funding.
Remember the $10 million they threw at Homebush to change the configuration, and then they walked away after 5 or so years, leaving the place a shithole for rectangular sports?
They have no shame.

That was terrible for Stadium Australia. That said, I don't think the rake would have ever been good enough, and all they were going to do was fix and square up the ends of the ground. I still think with how we see current stadium designs, it would have been behind the eight ball still.
