Season 2026

Most are signed beyond next season as well. So not a lot will change for 2027 either

We need a bunch of our players to improve. Pole, the Fainu's, Seyfarth & Makasini all have to take a step up. Maybe the Laulilii brothers as well. I think these guys can get the job done though.

Api has had two poor seasons. Luai hasn't delivered anywhere near what we are paying him. These two need to get back to being elite tier players.

It's definitely possible that we come good and give the comp a really good shake.

Next year we need go 12 wins and 12 losses at a bare minimum for it to be called a success. That would mean another 33% improvement on this year. This would put us on the edge of the finals.

Do I think we'll do it? Not even close. But I hope like hell I'm proven wrong.

I expect the RL gods will even out our good injury run over the last couple of years and we'll pay a heavy toll in 2026. Whatever happens there can't be controlled.

Aside from KPP and Taylan May our only recruitment wins this year and been to get get rid of Sullivan and hopefully Bird and Hunt. We need to be adding 2 origin quality players year on year for at least 3 more years. Although it's a long off season, we haven't managed that.

Aside from Terrell May there's not a player in the pack you'd not swap out for another club's players. May needs be reduce his workload as well. Although his stats were still very good at the end of the year, he'd lost impact, and had become almost a very busy Alex Twal.

Our 2 best and highest paid players just haven't delivered on field.

On the coaching front we still look disorganised in attack and defence. We can't concentrate for 80 mins. We aren't fit compared to the top teams. Credit where it's due - they did manage to win 3 more games than last year, even with the Galvin circus that derailed the club for a couple of months and basically wasted the off season.

05, I love your enthusiasm, but I think the only way we'll give the comp a shake next year is if the other 16 teams contract ebola.

I don't think this is possible.

I honestly think this is the issue and it's been a constant theme at our club. This is actually better because these two players are elite players. Previously we've had players like Brooks, Reynolds, Mbye, Packer as highly paid players. So we've improved.

Ill be very interested in our draw and think it will go a long way to our 2026 performance. We had a pretty good draw team wise, only playing 3 top 8 teams twice. However we were also the only Sydney team to play every non sydney team away so travel would have wrecked us.

We had a decent injury run however we also seemed to play every single team at full strength. Broncos and Souths were two of the worst hit with injury and we somehow got them both at relative full strength. We got the knights with ponga twice. IN fact the only big name player who missed a game against us was Moses in round 2.

Every team who makes the finals gets a bit of luck, hopefully we get a bit more next year. 3 more wins then 2025 isnt a big ask, we got 3 more wins this year then last.

The goal for next season should be to win more games than we lose. Secondary objectives would be to win the match in the last round of regular season, win at least 3 games consecutively and beat our arch nemesis: the Roosters.
I’d be ok if Benji criticised us for booing.

And maybe we look at the (lack of) quality of the losses too.

And I think it’s going to take able forwards.

And Api will probably slip into sub-factory territory by the end of next season m -for the first time in his miraculous career
unless he’s used with kid gloves.

Not his fault either.

I reckon Luai was bought so he'd bring a player or too with him. Next year we hopefully sign a couple more and on and on we go (hopefully) I dont think Luai was ever that great but he was a spine player in a very successful team. On the other hand if Terrell May played for the panthers he\d have played Origin and have the roos jersey in the wardrobe waiting for end of year. It goes both ways

The new sides pose genuine recruitment threats.

I checked the rules, they don’t get any extra salary cap, but 60 positions, just on the average, each remaining team is going to lose 2-3 players.

And to our annoyance, the new sides almost always finish better than a clump of established sides.

I think we’ve got bigger problems than Luai, but he’s very expensive.

All eyes on the recruits we missed out on, playing finals footy for other clubs.

Madges side has a bit of the rabbits 2014 thing about it, but not as powerful.

I’m staying with the Ivan to claim 5.

Solely on intellectual grounds.

He's in touch with footy reality. Quiet and unassuming but surely must have a footy brain.
He must have seen a lot of football unfolding during his playing days bludging out on the wing. 😂
He was a good winger though.

You would think that the Sydney pathway areas that have the most houses/families overall would potentially have the best future stars.
Campbelltown is right up there surely.
In 2022 I thought wow, Wests Tigers are going to be a powerhouse club, how many wooden spoons is it plus the womens. Geez 😭

I can't see how we can recruit a bunch of players under this situation. I think we will lose players.
The very reason May elected to go 2 years.
I think the 2 Mays enjoy playing together, they have a poddy and they seem to enjoy being here.
$ is what drives the sport though and these new teams will try to pick the eyes out of every club. Even wooden spooners like the Knights and Titans aren't safe.

Maybe the introduction of two more teams will ease the star studded stacking of certain clubs.

Our “marquees” will stay if we start winning games, but that’s a difficult ask without some key changes.

You look at how quick and silky these top sides are for much of the game.

How the f**k are we going to get there?

We would have been gassed 20 minutes into today’s game

I get it that the dogs are a selfish club of locker lickers, but they still got a hanky up to the wound to slthe bloodletting.

And I thought critter was overrated until today.

Anyway, finals usually remind us how bad things are for us I guess.

From a wt point of view the best thing is the bulldogs fell from a height and Ciraldo still isn’t a proven coach. Before Galvin he and Gould were “lick my feet”. After Galvin it was “whose feet are we licking today”

A similar heartbreak to Ricky’s. “We’ve got this won” then “O no we havnt ” The difference, I felt for Ricky ..

I bet Ciraldo does some due diligence next time instead of blindly believing Goulds high praise of a player..

And for Galvin I guess the online abuse will continue. noone deserves that kind of treatment, but such a contrast of demeanour from his parting shots when he left the wt and maybe a lesson for the future on being humble and the choice of words used when things are looking up

Noteworthy that Benji handled an ugly situation with minimum fuss and despite attempts from all quarters remained unscathed and in fact prospered to a degree with AD as the replacement. Certainly not the one with egg on his face..
