Let's say they make the prelim next year and decide to have it Marvel, what crowd do they realistically get?
More than 29k.

Who knows if it’s a big Sydney team or the broncos 40k plus or maybe even shock the world and sell out

Someone else said marvel has double the corporate boxes aaami has too so with the bigger crowd nrl will make bank

Sharks wouldn’t have brought too much and they still sold aami out pretty easily

There has been times where rectangular sports have been played at marvel during that period and the seats haven't been moved in.

When?

Let me guess, you’ll reference either a game that happened during the AFL season, or during COVID

Some people on here are way too obsessive about playing in big stadiums. AAMI Park is one of the best Rugby League grounds in the country. Ask the fans who were at the game on Friday what they would prefer?

As a Storm fan that was at the Prelim on Friday night (my 9th Storm game of the season), I’m telling you my opinion on what the NRL can do to continue to build the Storm culture.

Were you at the game on Friday?

So all you care about is money?
Lets say they get 38k. Are you seriously happy playing a preliminary final in an nearly half empty stadium? Friday night looked amazing on television and you want to give that up?

I was referring to the A-league but since you're acting like a twat, I'm pretty done debating with you.

When is the last time an A-League game was played at Marvel outside of COVID times or the AFL season, mate?

If you’re going to speak on behalf of Storm supporters who live in Melbourne, at least know what is happening in Melbourne.

I’ll ask again— were you at the game on Friday night?

Or how many games have you attended at AAMI park this season?

Yep I am

29k is getting too small for prelims for them

Might get 53k and the atmosphere will be twice as good

Storm are growing still. The death of the rebels has helped, as has their continued success as more victorians jump on board

So what do you think of prelims at Newcastle, Canberra, North Queensland, etc.? Should we have to move them because our grounds are too small?

Storm are not getting 53k anytime soon lol. I love the optimism though.

Nah those don’t have bigger stadiums close by

Is that what your worried about ?

Newcastle having to play their prelim at Sydney lol.

I love the fact Canberra cowboys knights get home prelims rather than when they were played in Sydney which was embarrassing

If Newcastle ever discover how to play rugby league well and make a prelim that could be the catalyst for getting the ground up to 40k

I believe as long as a team has a stadium that is 25k or more they should be able to play all their finals games there.

I don't think its fair for the Warriors to have to move games to Eden Park, Parramatta to Accor, or the Storm to Marvel just so the NRL can make a bit more money. As long as they pass the requirements they should be free to host it where they want.

The experience for fans should come before making money imo. You can disagree with that and that's fine, but that's where I stand on this.

No, it is true that seats were removed to install the superscreen, from memory down to about 83k.

Found the article with some pictures, the bays are missing around 5 or 6 rows where the screen is now.

My chief dispute with your claim was that it had whittled the capacity down to 80,500 which is objectively wrong

The argument that clubs capable of drawing 25k+ to prelims should sell them off to venues they don't use or cities hours away is ludicrous.

If the league was averaging 25-30k there's a case for that - it's not yet. Revisit it when it is.

In the meantime, play on.

It wasn't my claim and that isn't what you stated. You said no seats were removed for the screen install.I commented because you were both wrong, seats were removed but nit 3k of them.

I posted an article to provide the reality. I knew the capacity was always 83.5k and thought the screen reduced that by about a thousand but a quick search doesn't provide a definitive answer, only the link I reference says capacity is about 83k now.

I don't care whose claim it was lmao, the claim that 80,500 was the new capacity, whomever made it, is wrong.

It's okay to admit you were wrong or mistaken. You claimed there were no seats lost or capacity reduction because of the new screens.
Both were wrong, as was whoever said that capacity was reduced by 3k.
