“Location you unfortunately can't change unless you move it”
Oh lord give me strength.
Oh lord give me strength.
Read it again champ. I'm saying there isn't much you can do about Accor's location unless you want to abandon the site and build a new stadium elsewhere (which they won't). You just make do with what's there.“Location you unfortunately can't change unless you move it”

I doubt you actually went but I'll humor you.Not enough to believe Sydney’s biggest stadium should be limited to a 70,000 capacity lmao.
You just need stands that are steep so fans are close to the actionRead it again champ. I'm saying there isn't much you can do about Accor's location unless you want to abandon the site and build a new stadium elsewhere (which they won't). You just make do with what's there.

If you have budget of let's say $3 billion to spend on a new stadium. With that money you can either build a basic 80-90k stadium that will do the job but won't be anything special, or you can build a 60-70k stadium that's a much better experience for spectators but obviously comes with a lower capacity.
My opinion is that a stadium of around 70k would be sufficient enough and the focus should be on the overall spectator experience so it doesn't become a ghost town like Accor has. It needs to be a place that people want to come and watch the footy.
If the NSW government wants to spend money to make sure both areas are covered, then that's awesome, but I want the experience to come before how many seats it has. Pretty simple stuff really.
If it was hosting the Super Bowl every year it wouldn’t be 70kI think at minimum the stadium could be 73k. Which would allow for 70k crowds for big events like grand finals and origin. 80k would be ideal though.
Sofi stadium in LA is 70k and it’s unreal. Shows you don’t need to have 80-100k stadiums for massive sports. In fact most nfl stadiums are around 60k. m pretty sure same with the EPL.
It’s an afl obsession to have crazy large crowds pushing 100k. We don’t need to follow suit.
73k would be good. 80k better. Anything smaller or larger is no good.
Superbowls have been played at crowds of 60,000 - 70,000 over the past 5 years. NFL don’t seem to have any issue with that capacity. If it was hosting the Super Bowl every year it wouldn’t be 70k
It’s that capacity for the local nfl club
Even arsenal are looking at it expanding and that’s one club in London where they have Wembley Tottenham and west ham playing in big grounds
From 83k current capacity for rectangular events the next best is 53k in Suncorp
Australia doesn’t have much big rectangular stadiums
Yes it would. Majority of NFL stadiums are around the 60k-75k mark. There's only 5 NFL stadiums larger than 75k with Metlife Stadium the largest at 82.5k. In fact Buffalo are downsizing from 70k to 62k in their new stadium. If it was hosting the Super Bowl every year it wouldn’t be 70k

Arsenal is 60,000 capacity and Tottenham is only slightly bigger.
A 70-75k Accor built to a high spec would be plenty big enough.
I guess it's a good thing that these stadiums are in different jurisdictions from a funding perspective so we don't have to do them one at a time.Accor isn’t a stadium priority for the nrl
Canberra is the most urgent
Followed by Newcastle brookvale suncorp and gong
Manly get sellouts just about every week
Pvl is judged by a very high standard he sets but he totally stuffed up the stadium situation in BrisbaneI guess it's a good thing that these stadiums are in different jurisdictions from a funding perspective so we don't have to do them one at a time.
Accor - NSW Govt
Canberra - ACT and Feds (?)
Suncorp - QLD Govt
Newcastle is of course in NSW but can be pushed separately as regional investment.
Brooky I really don't know what can happen there.
I really hope after a record TV deal St Peter makes it his personal mission to get us incredible stadia for all clubs.
Yep agreed, which is why I'd love him to really take up the fight as his next mission.Pvl is judged by a very high standard he sets but he totally stuffed up the stadium situation in Brisbane
NSW govt have been good for stadia and coe though none of that is due to Pvl
He’s really dropped the ball re stadiums
Latest polls in qld have labor aheadYep agreed, which is why I'd love him to really take up the fight as his next mission.
I seriously doubt the validity of that poll and Victoria Park will be half built by the next election.Latest polls in qld have labor ahead
Probably too late for a new govt to reverse course on Victoria park but you never know
I know what you were trying to say.Read it again champ. I'm saying there isn't much you can do about Accor's location unless you want to abandon the site and build a new stadium elsewhere (which they won't). You just make do with what's there.
Then there is absolutely no point in continuing to engage with you.I doubt you actually went but I'll humor you.
Or here's a thought, you can just respect that we have different opinions on the subject matter and move on.Then there is absolutely no point in continuing to engage with you.
You mean some of the best stadiums in the world. Why wouldn't we take ideas from them? The guy that’s obsessed with telling other people about their obsessions with another sport seems overly obsessed with comparisons with NFL & American stadiums.
Oh the f**king irony.Or here's a thought, you can just respect that we have different opinions on the subject matter and move on.
Your obsession with the NFL is blinding your opinion on what the market in question requires. You mean some of the best stadiums in the world. Why wouldn't we take ideas from them?
Nice edit mate. All this started because you couldn't handle a lighthearted joke. Grow up and move on please. I doubt people want to read this back and forth.Oh the f**king irony.
All I said is to put the spectator experience before capacity. Not sure how many times I need to keep repeating that. If you actually cared to read and comprehend that instead of trying to pick a fight, you would have seen multiple times that I said I'm content with a bigger capacity, provided the experience is top notch. 100k is just unrealistic and unnecessary though.Your obsession with the NFL is blinding your opinion on what the market in question requires.
I'd say it's too late but hopefully he keeps pestering the QLD government about their plan to upgrade Suncorp Stadium. I'm curious what upgrades they have in mind for that.Latest polls in qld have labor ahead
