Rule change proposal: If a player goes into touch but has control of the ball when going into touch its just a tackle and that team keeps the ball (American footy style).
That would really open the backline moves up and make a player in the clear out wide very hard to stop from scoring. I've been watching a lot of American football and this is one of the main differences that makes players in open space hard to stop.
Do people agree this would create a lot more space and lead to way more passing and line breaks?
I think it would revolutionize the game in a subtle but phenomenal way.

One of your many logical fallacies designed to troll fans.
Don't pretend you understand my motives. I am here to educate fans, not troll them. You being pissed off is part of the unlearning process, where you let go of the paradigms that keep you eternally frustrated with the game.
Their job requirement is not to be ahead of the fans. They're job requirement is to be better or as good as their competitors.
Of course. My point here is in the context of fans second guessing their decisions. Even if we have the 17th best administration in the NRL, they are still far better informed than we are.
"They mightn't be as good as the management at some other clubs". This is the problem in a competitive marketplace.
Agreed, but it's got f**king ZERO to do with whether we as fans know enough to justifiably criticise the decisions made by the Eels or any other club.
But you know all this - you are just having fun by trolling parra fans when they are low.
No, you are trolling me. Parra fans shouldn't be feeling low about this. It's a good short term result for us. When Pezet goes to Brisbane on massive overs he won't be hurting our cap. If he doesn't hurt theirs either it's because they are 'well run' and able to fit more talent under the cap than probably anyone else.

I’ve come around slightly on it. I still don’t think it’s an endorsement on our club management, failing to convince a sort after player to join, but as long as dollars are reasonable, it’s probably fine. The only other aspect about it I’m not enjoying though is providing targetted media attention on our juniors.

Disagree. My boss knows less about my job than I do. Should they never critique a decision I make?
The club ultimately does have to justify themselves to us fans. We may not need to know the full detail around it, but away from “surely they know more about it than I do” how confident are you that they are acceptably meeting their goals, that the goals being set are realistic but also challenging and progressive, that our representatives put in place are also reasonably criticising (both positively and negatively) these decisions?

Do we even know the club’s goals? Your boss knows your goals, but your customers probably shouldn’t.

Was that one of my questions? As I said we don’t necessarily need the minutiae but that does not mean they don’t need to justify themselves. So far the justification provided has been that we didn’t even really want him, just we need someone to placehold while younger players develop. Some will accept that, but I don’t think it’s unreasonable for some to be more critical. Thinking of this as business/customer relationship is incorrect. It’s far more large company/shareholder relationship

Chammas spoke with eels officials in the UK (including Ryles, Jimmy, MON) on a "study tour" apparently we didn't try to sign him on a long term deal.....they didn't want to block path of our juniors...

Coming into his peak years, a long term deal would have been very expensive and very risky. He's certainly no star, but he could become one. Or he could just become a solid NRL halfback.

That's just PR spin/play to sell the idea to fans that it was always the plan and get in front of it when its officially announced.

If we really rated our junior halves coming through what was all the fuss about chasing Galvin so hard earlier in the year for.
Galvin is a generational talent. Pezet is two years older and only half the player.
We had a decent long term deal on the table for Pezet and he chose Brisbane.
With no halfback on the books for 2027 surely they can offer better than a 'decent' long term deal.
