So when is Baz getting sacked?

Don't waste time just do it tonight. Send Stokes home early if he has a cry about it.

Yep sure was, that was the first day of Ashes cricket I saw as well. What an introduction. Hayden/Ponting destroy them and their best bowler rips off his foot and misses the series.
Well, you had a much better introduction to Ashes cricket than I did.

Mine was the 1st test of the 1997 Ashes at Edgbaston. Australia got skittled for 118 on day 1 (were 8/54 at one stage) and ended up getting thrashed by 9 wickets, despite a career-saving century from Mark Taylor in the 2nd innings.

Channel 9 began their telecast of Ashes tests at 10:30pm, meaning they only televised the 2nd/3rd sessions of Ashes tests. The first session was only shown on Optus' Sports Australia channel. Only a small % of Australians had PayTV at the time, as it was still a relatively new concept (let alone, Foxtel/Optus wasn't available where I lived back then in the Hunter Region until 1999).

That is a SPECTACULAR catch from Carey if Jacks hit that. Reminiscent of Adam Gilchrist at the WACA back in 1999 vs Pakistan.

Edit: didn't hit the bat. Not out.
