Wests Tigers club news

That goes against what I'm saying Red sorry. Good point but it's part of our problem all this uncertainty .
We need one NRL club jersey with an equal amount of white, black and gold on it and keep that forever and forever, just like your jersey.
Your red V is the reason a lot of your members have hung in their imo.
Once kids grow up following the one brand, one logo and same colours they wont accept anything else, it won't feel normal.
It's the old diehards that are not willing to change and let go. They are stubborn.
Balmain fans like me have let go and I follow Wests.....Wests Tigers. I don't sook that we're not called Balmain.
The club is already called Wests Tigers the dumbos.
😡
I hope all RL fans march if they can, just like we did with George Piggins.
I agree that a lot of our apparent unity is the Red V jersey, it did keep us older Saints supporters engaged as it links us back to what we knew and loved. Even our mbrship / season ticket program is called Red V.

@Nutz The reason I mentioned multiple jerseys was that the NRL make all the teams have multiple jerseys anyway. Funnily enough, I quite like the jersey that was blamed for this kerfuffle… maybe not so much the bottom blending part… just shows how little I know.

You guys also change jersey designs frequently - for the money no doubt. Thats not something we do with our main jersey - very little change to it. A new uniform provider might add a little red trim around the neck or sleeves, the V might be a little steeper or flatter but that’s about all that ever happens. We change up the “Away” jersey only. Even then I grumble when we play in it - our home jersey doesn’t clash with anyone so just wear it. Yes I’m often told I’m wrong. 😊 Our NRLW uniform is a little different to the men’s, but easily identifiable still.

But the NRL or the uniform provider stipulate so many games for each jersey. To promote merchandise sales. So there we go, wearing the away jersey at some home games as well as away. 🤦‍♂️

For us here at WT's, jerseys are the least of our problems.
No it's not because they want the Magpies back and thats why we have black jerseys and black membership stuff. Are u a member, do you like your black hat year after year. The identifying product is everything about our problems. We are the tigers and there ain't no black tigers in the world.

You've basically supported what I'm saying though Red. The Red V is what is the mainstay of your jersey.
Magpies don't want our tiger and that's the truth of it.
It's like berley, throw enough into the water and you'll never get rid of the sharks.
They were finally given a jersey that was pure quality from our new Canterbury clothing company that for once looked like a tiger and very marketable and they sacked 3 independent board members over it...the jersey has a lot to do with our problems. There is no equality in this stuffed up joint. Blind freddy should be able to see this.
You chant what the logo is imo.

We are the West Tigers, not the "Tigers".
Yes, I am a member and I'm more concerned about results than anything else. And the colour has nothing to do with results, look at Penrith, they wear pink ones and I'm not sure there are any pink panthers in the world?
Re the hat, it doesn't worry me, I wear it, why, don't you? If you’re suggesting an orange one, I’m sacking you from the marketing department hahaha

I don't give a hoot about marketing. It's like selling your sole.
An orange hat? Are U serious?
Maybe we should make our new home ground at the Similipal Tiger Reserve 😁.
However, outside of Sydney's southern suburbs influence, I can tell you from someone who owns a sporting store heavily involved in NRL gear that the 2005 Wests Tigers premiership jersey (which is very much a joint venture jersey in feel – orange/gold with black and white shorts) keeps getting re-run as a retro/heritage piece and repeatedly sells out.
He sells more of the jerseys that have an equal amount of white black and gold. You want a team that's supported world wide Mr PV, then the Tiger is it. Vegas for eg. UK, kiwis etc.
Imo.
Results won't come Tm if we are not united in every facet and the way we look on the field is paramount.
The fact that they reacted the way they did with the announcement of next year great marketable jersey indicates they are not united.
Apart from all my ranting, lighter coloured jerseys are cooler to play in.
I would not have started supporting the Wests Tigers years ago if the tiger and the gold wasn't given a fair go and I'm not on my pat malone.
People trying to be politically correct will disagree.
Lets see if we continue to erode the tiger strip as it has slowly and surely has done so since when HBG took hold by 90%.

I give up, no more from me. I respect your point of view Tm and TSP, I'm not at war with you guys.

Very interesting and quality conversation happening by @Nutz @RedVee & @Tigerm.

Well done gents. Pleasure reading your thought out opinions, points and counterpoints.

One thing that helps make the St George Illawarra merger seem more settled most of the time, that was briefly mentioned in this thread by @RedVee, is the strong connections between the Illawarra area and the St George Dragons pre the inclusion of the Illawarra Steelers.

Correct me if I’m wrong but I believe there was a steady flow of players from around the 1940’s to the 1970’s from the Illawarra district that would go on to play for St George. Including legends like Graeme Langlands & Ted Goodwin. This and the Dragons domination of the 1950s & 1960s led to a lot of support for St George from the South Coast. It was common in that era if you lived regionally to support a club in the local competition as well as support a Sydney premiership side form afar.

Unofficially the area has strong links to St George in a Rugby League sense at least. That along with the earlier points about collar colour schemes in the merged entity has helped a lot. Although there has still been challenges at times.

It’s great to see that without Steelers continuing as owners of St George Illawarra Dragons, that the club is still strengthening ties with the Illawarra area. Earlier mentioned COE based in Wollongong & the working relationship with Collegians.

Wests Tigers have the ability to do something similar with competent ownership and a focus on the MacArthur region. Problem is, Western Suburbs didn’t want to move to MacArthur in the first place and did so out of a desire to survive. It seems they have used the Wests Tigers as a vehicle to return to being an inner west club in my opinion that out sources some home games to the MacArthur region.

Before our joint venture, a lot of Western Suburbs players ventured over to Balmain and vise versa, Brett Hodgson is a classic example.
I've said many times that back in the day I followed St George because of my cousin Norm Provan and of course Peter so I fell in love with the Tigers but if neither of those clubs were playing I'd watch Western Suburbs because I loved the brutal Dallas D and skill of O'Grady and co and they were often the underdogs.
So I don't hate them. I just think, right across the board we should follow the Wests Tigers and not favour either of the old clubs.
I'm a stubborn old mick but hey, it is what it is 😁

Will be interesting how this plays out, Richo has 2 more years on his contract, if he resigns he may lose the lot, if he's sacked for the reported crime, he will lose the lot, but if he stays, he doesn't.
What he does do, may be telling.

I can bet there is NO crime , my view yes he used family connections..BUT 1.He was able to actually make a profit with club business dealings regardless of any links to family .
2, Perhaps because he went outside of the dodgy HBG preferred businesses portfolio was the reason they made a profit and the reason someone has complained.
Or 3 He was employed by the most sus club in the NRL and kept his business arrangements close to his chest to ensure he got the results promised to the supporters.
4. He is a criminal
Im picking 1 to 3 or 1,2,3 .
