I knew it was going to be tough - down in scumville, the whole Lomax saga making the Scum get their knickers in a twist...

But come, on...another round 1 50-point thrashing?

I'm sure it's been touched on already, but there's no on-field leadership at the club.

Paulo played 57 minutes and JDB 53 minutes. I think if you look at his DragQueen minutes the last couple of years, he's played around 40 minutes most weeks. Neither are getting any younger.

This was exacerbated with Hopgood getting 10 in the bin and those two having to do more work during that time.

If we're going to be in position where Paulo and JDB have to play those kinds of minutes, then this won't be the last time this year our opponents will hit 50.

What a putrid game, from both the Eels and the officials.

Wait all offseason and get excited for round 1 and this is what we get, two years in a row. I’m hoping this was a one-off and they will show some improvement next week…but I’m not expecting it.

Im f**king deflated a bit right now. I feel so much worse than I did after the first game last year. That second half was just unacceptable. No one wanting to do the hard work and just simply hold the ball. We created no momentum for ourselves, no pressure on the Storm, no defensive intensity at all.

The refs were bad in this game. The Eels were worse

Let’s look at the positives.

1. we’ve got the hardest away trip of the year out of the way already.
2. We get the second hardest out of the way in seven days time.
3. Melbourne and Brisbane will win 80% or more of their Home games this season we may be the first, but we won’t be the last to get towelled up.
3. From week 3 onwards we only have three more out of Sydney games in the whole season

This may well prove to be the most perspicacious comment of 2026.

You know, it's clear how absolutely horseshit the draw is that while we are spending two weeks on the road to Melbourne and Brisbane the f**king Bulldogs effectively have two weeks off.

The club should issue an apology tonight for that inept rudderless performance and also not charge any season ticket holder their next month's instalment.
They should also not charge an entry fee for the 1st home game.
They owe it to the fans. You need to earn our trust and respect back with a show of goodwill
Tbh a cringe fluff piece apologising to the fans would infuriate most even more.

I would prefer the club stop talking with words and do all our talking on the field with actions.

And it starts next week against the Broncos.

Whatever grace the team has built up has now been shot down in 80 mins.

What happened last night was a disgrace and the whole club is now on notice for the rest of the year to make sure it doesnt happen again.

Every team is going to have 1 or 2 mulligans are year but to waste it and pop the balloon 2 years in a row in round 1.

You forgave them for last year as the year went on as there were circumstances for that shocker last year.

No excuses for last night.

I hate to be membership department this morning.

I reckon there might have been emotional people emailing the club wanting a cancellation.

we played like shit and got what we deserved but the lack of consistency in the game is just killing me atm.
I am more concerned about the 6 again rule change.

Its just given the Refs more oppourtunity to manipulate or manage a game how they like without anyone even having a chance to go back and enquire whats happened.

I was a fan of the rule but not that they have extended it back to the opposition 20m line. That now leaves the length of 80m of play the 6 again rule can be used.

Where it was on 40m was the right area & balance on the ground.

I am going to be watching closely this weekend how it goes. As a neutral its going to be interesting.

The 6 agains last night it was a big difference to how the Vegas games were officiated. We got pinned about 4 times on the last tackle.

So your making 10 or 11 tackles in a set.

the six again was bought in to speed up the game and stop the wrestle. last nights game was lighting quick, did the ref need to blow that many six agains!

blow a few to keep the teams honest but let the boys play footy. 13 six agains, i dont tune in to watch a ref performance.

Just terrible. Once again we gassed out early, then played dumb footy with too many turnovers.

Let's hope this is just early season rust and we improve week on week.

I am trying to be more positive this year in life generally. My God I hope the Eels get their shit together soon otherwise it's not going to be easy.
I admire your perspective. It’s admirable. But have picked the wrong club for hope and positivity
