It’s only the teams who lose by 40+ that suddenly have “bad discipline.”

Couldn’t possibly be that 1 or 2 six-agains completely drains their energy, leaving them so fatigued they get trapped in a cycle they can’t break.
This

Just because a team loses the first few minutes of a contest, it doesnt mean momentum should be against them the rest of the way and the 6 agains are allowing that to happen far too often.

Im not arguing any of that, what i am saying is long have we criticised union for the amount of penalties but our game at the moment has as many if not more.
Yep I used to mock union for having a pedantic rule book now we’ve copied it

People don’t watch games to see penalties

Are set restarts penalties? If they are, our game is on par with union in terms of number of penalties

Roosters/Rabbits - 9-11
Broncos/Eels - 12-7

Drua/Brumbies - 10-9
Reds/waratahs - 10-9

There were worse games than those two. They were just the average

And ball in play?

For as long as I can remember in RL the good teams have tactically have away penalties.

When you guys went back to back pre PVL days, the media was whinging you and Storm giving away penalties defending your line.

We are seeing that with the 6 against.

Does anyone think the 2017 product was better then now?

And all of this shit would have been avoided if the NRL simply had the balls to penalize teams that deserved it without running to the shelter of Mummy's skirt as soon as Gould decides to have a whinge. That or just make wrestling tactics itself illegal.

You could have just banned wrestling coaches if it was that big a deal

The easiest thing would be to make 3 man tackles unacceptable. If you have the 3rd man in then it is an extra tackle to the attacking team.

Given the strength of players and how well they offload.

Players need to wrap the ball up, So I am not sure how you get around that without changing the game beyond recognition.

6 again atleast keeps the game flowing

As in right now after seeing the first two rounds of this year? 2017 by far. That’s not coming from somebody who liked wrestling either.

You've lost your mind. Several of the games this season have been the best games in years. The Knights v Sea Eagles was awesome.
You seem to absolutely love wrestling, completions, bombs and that kind of garbage.

If you thought the Knights and Sea Eagles was an awesome game, then it is you who has lost his mind. There was literally one good game this weekend and that was the Roosters vs Souths game. The rest was utter shite

You just go off if the game is close or not?
I think you got too many years of slow play, completions, structure, wrestling and the like and that is what you think RL should look like. Errors are a great part of sports.

I think for example you would have been sickened by that sequence of play in the Knights v Sea Eagles game when the Knights were on the attack then there was an interception then the Sea Eagles winger forgot to get into dummy half and then Best picked the ball up (a great defensive play) and ran it almost all the way back.
I thought that was off the charts brilliant entertainment.

People are seeing the score and equating it directly to the new rules.

Again I come back to the Manly game.

Brooks let the kick off go dead. Newcastle score a try 1 min into the game.

Just after half time. Manly score.

We had half time for the players to get their breath back.

4 mins of play

Try - 30 secs while that was confirmed.
30 seconds again while the conversation was taken.
another 30 seconds to kick off.
Kick goes dead.
30 seconds to drop out.

We had a 10 min half time break
4 mins of play
2 minutes to get their breath back.

Fatigue due to the rules wasn't why Manly conceded there.

Take those soft tries off Manly errors.

We are looking at a score of 24-16, hardly a ridiculous scoreline.

That is what I am saying in every game there are 2-3 tries scored that shouldn't have been.

Maybe that is off season rust and we don't see that in a few weeks and it doesn't seem as bad

Wouldn't even call that a good game to be honest. It will only be remembered for the record, most of the game was boring.

It's laughable to suggest any game this season has "been the best games in years", and certainly not several of them.

I don't think it was just Gould, I can't imagine sponsors liked that magic round farce a few years ago.

I watch NRL because of the free flowing nature.

We have bunker interference, HIA and other stoppages as it is

How many years have there been many good games before Easter?

The start of the year is usually garbage
