I find those formats are a bit of a joke now, to be honest.

T20 always was a joke, but ODIs used to mean something - at least before T20/Big Bash/Indian league flooded the market with too much cricket.

Anyway on the soccer, if merkins who are eligible for several make a choice and don't want to represent their country of birth/residence/culture - then you can't make them.

Going down 1-0 to Japan isn't a bad result, all things considered.

Some Matildas said that's the best we've ever played against Japan, and to get that close to them is pretty good - given Japan are a class above (top 8) to us (top 16).

There's a few funnies on YouTube of fat middle aged Poms kicking the ball around. It reminds me of when I played over 35s five-a-side in Freo a couple of years ago and most of the blokes there were old Brits. Funny dudes and some of them had plenty of skill even if they needed a breather after five minutes.
