I won't talk about the halves selections. It's been discussed to death. We know what needs to happen. But it will only happen as a result of an injury or suspension.

Two guys from NSW Cup who need to be in the NRL squad - Fale & Halangahu. We are currently missing speed in the outside backs and footwork at the line. We have no game breakers.

Why have we suddenly decided to swap Holmes & Suli from right to left and vice versa? This doesn't make any sense to me. Hook tried to play Suli on the left back in 2023 and it failed.

So, Flanno has one loss left up his sleeve and needs to win five in order to have the same record as Hook?

I will continue to give some benefit of the doubt - the juniors are starting to come through under this current regime, and we have managed to lock in contracts longer term... but this is also happening at an extremely frustrating pace and is somewhat confusing from a selection standpoint with respect to the fact that we have had regulars out of form going back to Round 24 last season.

Flanno is going to have to start pulling the trigger soon - or he risks the trigger being pulled on him.

I'm also mindful of another coach coming in and setting us back another 2-3 years. Willie Peters or Brad Arthur won't be the answer we are looking for. Craig Bellamy or Ivan Cleary, along with bringing a host of superstar first grade talent with them, yeah that's what we are going to need.
Our juniors are only coming through because of their lower grade coach.

The 1st grade coach has added nothing to them other than body mass.

None of the young guns are better players or have silkier skills as a result of anything that SF or DY have taught them.

They will stagnate & die under the current regime.

I'm sure whenever we hire a new coach, management tells them we want to be playing finals in 3 years time. The old experienced coaches like Flanno and Hook seem to reckon the only way to achieve this is to hire experienced players that were good five years ago. So if you're Hook, you go and recruit old queensland players, and if you're Flanno, you go and recruit players at the butt end of their careers like Gutho, Holmes, Cook etc. On the other hand if you hire a younger coach, then you're taking a big punt that they'll come good. That didn't work with Price, and it didn't work with Mary.

To me it comes down to the Board and Management having no footy smarts, no eye for talent, and no aptitude for how the game is developing. I don't know how the club gets out of this dilemma.

Shane is such a delusional prick. To draw comparisons to his 2016 team in the presser because we lost 3 in a row to start the year is an absolute joke. 0-3 is no 18-2. Cronulla only lost 2 games in the first 20 games in 2016, he is living and paying the bills off a premiership only his name is attached to. No integrity and an average coach who doesn't make players better. Spoon bowl next weekend how exciting can't wait

Funny that Shane was our List management consultant early in 2022, soon after we lost Jackson ford and Bostock who signed with there new clubs for the 2023 season..Was he trying to sabotage us or he just isn't very smart. He is easily the most under pressure coach and if our CEO doesnt learn from past mistakes and puts all his eggs in Flannos basket we will lose so many good players to clubs that have there shit together and I couldn't blame them. Kyle being picked every single week without question is the nail in the coffin. Nepotism shouldn't exist in the NRL but Flanno is to stubborn to admit Kyle is not the answer and never will be.

Personally I think that Flanagan & Ennis are like those parasitic mushrooms that take over their host who eventually explodes in a cloud of spores.
We got the rough end from both the ARL & (Fox) Super League in the Super League war and I honestly believe they don't want us. Sounds paranoid? Well, they halved our junior area and introduced the four-tackle rule to stop us in '67. (It must have rankled that despite this we were still Minor Premiers and came within a whisker of GF #12.)
I never wanted Flanno, I definitely never wanted Ennis within 100 miles of us. I feel vindicated the way things are turning out. Rubbish recruitment, rubbish game management, paltry excuses in the post-match presser.
In 58 years, I have never not wanted to watch Saints play before - but it's too painful now because the players and staff either don't know what they're doing or don't care. I'm tired of retirement fund signings (Gutho, Cook etc) and favours for mates signings (Norman, Holmes etc), anodyne, useless CEOs and the clubs out-of-date business model and treatment of its supporter base. But at least the pundits will finally get to see their forecast of a Dragons wooden spoon come to fruition.
The future does not look bright, my friends.

Recruitment will not happen until we settle on a new coach for 2027
Flanno will be gone sooner the better NSW Cup coach to step up then we might start recruiting better players and stop handing contracts to Cook Feagai Guler Lawrie Leilua Tuipulotu for next year and still have Kyle and Gutherson and Holmes till end of 2027 new younger faster players are needed
Surely the coach can see this

The last few years we have started the year better than we have finished.
I keep saying to myself that a bad start is okay as long as we come good by the end.
I don't know if that will happen, just hoping. I was going to say we need to toughen up as supporters, but I think we we are already toughened up & traumatised at the same time.

The club extended McGregor then sacked him the next year.
The club extended Griffin and then sacked him the next year.
The club extended Flanagan last year and then ...

Everyone including me is displeased with the coach but what about our board who clearly have no idea about good culture and decision making.

The team and coaching staff dont have the brains nor talent to come back from this.
We are not Penrith Broncs Storm etc who we know will come back from this.
Not to many positive comments so far after yesterday.
