3-2-1 v Tigers

I had a gut feeling about this :-(

3 JFH
2 Laban
1 Boyd

I've been saying all week Metcalf should havea couple of weeks in NSW Cup. He was well off the pace and overplayed his hand, Boyd was less effective as a result. There were some below par performances on our side notably Leka, Metcalfe, Ford, Egan (from the 20 minute mark on) and despite the two tries ... CNK.

Having said all that, we were out enthused, out played and at times out muscled.

I wonder if TSS playing and Vaimauga not is some sort of rotational policy with the new bench make-up - to avoid people not sitting on it without playing for weeks - or just Vaimauga was basically dropped.

Hard to know who to give the final point to

1 - TSS I guess - he did play his heart out

Almost gave that point to Boyd because he was in pretty much everything good we did on offense, but there were also times he didn't engage the line late in the second half when there was space - wonder if he lacked confidence in Metcalf to take the right option on following play

DMs - Pompey - he has these games every so often - new baby in the house probably also a factor
Webster - for getting too cute with selections and for not giving Metcalf at least 1 game in Cup to get his legs back
Egan - wonder if should've gone off for an HIA. Was pretty poor from that point on

Thought Barnett was fairly ineffective this week

And why was nobody tracking after Ford when he played the ball with no dummy half? He was entitled to think someone should've been there, it wasn't like he'd run 70 metres

RTS too busy thinking about Super League, maybe. Not a big fan of how he and his brother did the whole signing announcement thing

Tigers did a good job of nullifying our pack. Have given the Sharks the blueprint of how to beat us

I thought Vaimauga played well last week so i think its for rotating the playing time like you said.

Piss this rotation idea right off Webster. Play our best 17 every week. It’s one thing if an injury forces our hand. But to not play one of our best players when he is fit is criminally dumb

No dummy half was such a poor play, Ford was often first to put pressure on any of our bombs as well, where were the speed men? Tired from hitting it up to much?

Tigers put numbers in tackles early, needed leadership to see that and consider spreading the ball.

There was something very off on Boyd vs the first 3 weeks. Didn't dig as deep into the line as frequently, but when he did it set up CNK. He missed some gaps he normally took in the last few weeks. He made a poor call on a tackle of inside runner on Tigers try.
Not sure why Metcalf disturbed his game so much? He seemed less confident.

I can’t think of another explanation, it would be interesting to hear if that is what’s happening

I like TT's ability and skills. I just feel his build is too light for a defensive fullback.
He lacks "stopping power". Plus he is overplaying his hand. He is too easy to read now.
Get the ball and run until he is stopped. Needs to add more links. Not sure where he best fits into the team.

Boyd and Metcalf just didn't work. At all.

Pompey was bad.

I really don't want to watch DWZ any more. He can't defend - if fact he can't stay in the right part of the field. If the winger is playing in the centre there has to be a gap on the wing. Plus he can jump- that's all. And I am getting tired of him clutching his jaw every time he gets tackled. Give AKP or Mellars a try.

CHT should have been brought on.

2 - Laban, puts a huge effort in but very tired after 30mins and Webster needs to sub him sooner
1 - TSS although Vauimaga should have been on instead

I take full responsibility for the loss. After picking the opposition 3 weeks prior, I had the (false) confidence, to pick the warriors to win. I was worried about Metcalf upsetting the rhythm that the team had displayed, but no, Webby will make it all good! Apologies to all. Will not make the same mistake again. I will be selecting the sharks, hoping to be wrong.

1. CNK - 2 tries, but defence was a bit off

Roger had a very ordinary game. Metcalf, far out his defence......
