For years many of us could see there was no real effort exerted to turn around our gradual decline as a footy club. Some of us wanted to believe otherwise, some of us just knew. We are now in the midst of some of the worst of it - we know our team will go out each week and if they are not blown off the park by a far superior team, they will no doubt find a dozen ways to lose a game themselves, or fall over the line and make out they are some genuine team. The 17, apart from being benign in attack and slow, don't look spirited even if they are trying hard. They don't strike me as a happy, connected bunch which sadly tells our culture has gone backwards even since the much maligned McGregor - and those weren't enjoyable times.
Anyway, as you said, we are so far off the pace it is actually beyond embarrassing, and the same names keep popping up on the team sheet every Tuesday afternoon, as if to give a big up yours to the Dragons fans who've been as patient as any fanbase over the last decade. I can take losses in the pursuit of better things but when certain individuals start sabotaging the greater good because of their own ego, it really boils the blood and make me mourn for the club we once were.
