All week I was telling people how we 'hurt other sides, bash them up through the middle, look fit and strong, and hungry...'

I feel humiliated now!

Bro sorry you’re feeling this way. One result doesn’t erase the effort, preparation, and belief this team brought into this year.

Backing your team and speaking with confidence isn’t something to be embarrassed about, it shows you care and you were all in.

Games don’t always go how we expect, and sometimes they’re a humbling reminder of where we can grow. The important thing now is how they respond.

Your take on how much we're hurting other teams and our good fitness levels is all valid, they are fit and we seem to be tiring the opposition. Let's see how we go.

Keep your head up.

If there is a good side to all this it is that we were beaten by a team that put in a huge effort.
Benji has brought them on well and I can't begrudge their win.
Plus it shows us where we need to improve to take on the better teams.

All good, cheers. My personal problem was that I was on a giant high from the trip to Newcastle the week before. The turgid performance on Friday night took me by surprise.

I'm working next Sunday so a trip to Shark Park is out. I've also received an offer to be in the One NZ box at Mt Smart against the Titans. I'm already on annual-leave so I'm looking at airfares from Sydney. Imagine it, never seen the Warriors in NZ and my first crack is in a fully-catered box. I don't muck around with free piss either. It's always a night to remember.

My fear is that airfares have shot up too high due to the conflict overseas, we'll see.

Free piss can make it a night you don't remember. :) But sounds great.
Look at Jetstar into Hamilton if Auckland to expensive, if you can make your way up somehow.

Be careful Blair. I was in a fully-catered box with free piss on Friday night and it led to some very bad posting.

Jetstar are cancelling some flights to NZ at the moment due to Iran.

Plus, you'd need to leave two days early to guarantee making the game in time. I just had a mate do the Syd to Ham round trip and he got delayed multiple hours on both ends.

Man I miss the pre covid days of sub $400 (closer to $300) return flights to NZ.

Cheers guys, I feel a bit sick because I'd obviously love to head over to Auckland for the game. It should be so easy and, as Matua pointed out, pre-Covid, money wasn't an issue either.

I can afford to go but tend to balk at rip-off prices, particularly when I'd just be going for the weekend. As it is, leaving for home on a Sunday with work the next day just leaves me cold. I'm still looking today though. The dream has a pulse.

Bloody Trump and the Russians...

That's unlucky, have done it twice, in July for Grandmothers funeral and in Jan for Dads 70th, never had any issues other than a bloody early start in Sydney.

OT - but did anyone else catch Face to Face last night with Brad Thorn? Thought it was good, wish it was longer actually. If anyone knows a poddy he's featured on, I'd appreciate a pointer.

I've never heard him refer to himself as a NZer so openly before either. He always gave this sense (for me anyway) that he considered himself more Aussie than Kiwi.

Edit: disregard the poddy bit... simple youtube search has given me a whole bunch.

Or you were lucky. 😉

I never do early morning flights so I'll never get to test if I'm lucky/not lucky or not.

@Blair did you decide to go?
I balked at the price of fares. I could afford it but felt ripped off spending $1100+ and the threat of cancellations/delays. I have to be back at work at six am the following Monday. I'll get another offer to the corporate box again this year and hopefully the Persian Gulf has settled down.

I do feel sick about not going though. I haven't been to Auckland for near 30 years. I want to walk its streets again, I love those deep nostalgia trips, and I have a soft spot for Auckland. I lived in Westmere, overlooking Western Springs.

The Matty Johns one is great, if you don't already have that one queued up.

Sheesh, yeah that's Xmas time pricing, stuff that.

Good luck for the next match - maybe as soon as things calm down buy some tickets straight away?

That was awesome, thanks for the heads up mate.

So much I enjoyed about it, but especially hearing about his time in rugby.

The pressure he felt around 2011 WC, his connection with his tight head prop and his mentality of I’ll give you everything, if you go down I’m going down with you, so there’s no bailing out…man he must’ve been something else to play with.

And when he said that when you put on the black jersey, understand your job is to win… sadly that made me feel nostalgic.

Yeah, I pointed out in another thread, that as someone who grew up playing and loving both sports (and gets annoyed with the shitfighting), I thought Thorn's explanations of how each sport was tough in it's own way were great (and should really be required viewing for fans of either sport who put down the other sport).

It's a bit harder for me to be attached to his league career considering he's an Origin and Kangaroo guy. 🤣
