What Movies Have You Seen III

Now I want to see this parody movie From Duck Till Dawn everyone keeps mentioning šŸ˜…

I enjoyed Sinners when I watched it a year ago or whenever it first came out, but was totally surprised it became the most nominated film since LOTR, didn't feel at all Oscar material. I didn't mind Michael B Jordan, I think I'd rate his performance purely due to the fact I almost immediately stopped thinking about the fact the two brothers were played by the same guy (after they did the 'pass the cigarette' moment early on where I thought that was quite impressive visually hah).

Looking forward to finally watching Project Hail Mary - just haven't got around to it, but have done well to avoid spoilers aside from hearing reference to the 'other' character's name and thumbs down apparently meaning something (guess I'll find that out when I watch it!).

Had a few days off work sick so caught up on a few movies.
Jurassic world Rebirth - all these Jurassic World movies have this stupid idea of having a mutated dinosaur in them, why? Just give us actual dinosaurs. This one was bad to ok, didn’t care about any character and the B storyline was pointless. Having the ā€œrancorā€ at the end was just dumb. 2/5

Borderlands - based off the games. Nearly
Fell asleep in the first 30 minutes. Very standard story and action in a slightly different world. 1.5/5

Triangle - thriller from 2009 starring Melissa George. One of those ā€œhow is this gonna endā€ movies. Not very intense but interesting for a one off watch and Melissa George is nice to watch. 3/5

Ready or Not: Here I Come.
Saw the first in cinema and really enjoyed it so had to check out the second, even though I was sceptical. In the vein of John Wick, they added unnecessary convoluted stuff to the lore. But the movie itself was enjoyable. Maybe a tad less then the first. Was highly sceptical of Kathryn Newton's inclusion while I was excited to see Sarah Michelle Gellar in it. Both were pretty good additions to the cast.

They Will Kill You
Grind house vibe and the movie hits some of the same notes as Ready or Not. This was also enjoyable if you're into that grind house camp with over the top practical blood effects and stuff.

I watched all three of these in the last week. Thought Ready or Not: Here I Come was better than the first actually. I liked the addition of Newton, plus Elijah Wood too.

They Will Kill You was bonkers violent.

I've watched more "horror" in the past month (saw Cold Storage recently too) than probably the last year, although I don't think they're that horror, probably more action-comedy-horror.

Project Hail Mary

I can’t recommend this film highly enough. Very good and lots of fun.

Indeed. I saw it on Sunday afternoon. It's a 2 1/2 hour movie but it didn't drag in any way (well, in my opinion at least). It's got a feel good vibe to it and will appeal to sci-fi and non sci-fi types each. The session I was in was a near full house.

I won't say more as I don't want to spoil it for anyone who hasn't yet seen it.

It's doing cracking box office for this day and age (after Covid) $425m.

I'd say it was universally beloved by those who've seen it but one bloke on another forum decided it was two sappy for him.

In saying all that, I did feel the ending dragged a bit. Had a bit of the Return of the King endless ending vibe. But that's a very small criticism.

The Gorge on apple was ok. Watched the preview and thought the bit before they go into the gorge would be boring but found it the other way around. The first hour where youre wondering whats going on and the relationship was intriguing, then when they go in (shows it on the trailer so no spoiler) it all went downhill.

Then watched Echo Valley. Was thinking whilst watching that this was the first thing Id ever watched with Sydney Sweeney. I dont get the hype, not a great actress and shes not my type. Decent enough story but still a basic 5/10

Its Jurassic Park bro, you arent watching it for the storyline lol. I havent minded the last two, I didnt like Rebirth or Fallen Kingdom at all. Not a fan of the mutated dinosaurs either but it is what it is.

I don't actually think she's that bad an actress, but I'm with you in that she's not my type either. But, come on, we all know what the hype is ... šŸ˜‚

Agree on the Gorge, thought the first half was best, don't think it went all downhill after that, just became the action movie I was guessing it would.

I mean she’s clearly not unattractive, but to me she’s a Temu Scarlett Johanssen and I don’t remember her getting the hype Sydney does.

🤣

I wonder if the hype comes down to the fact that Scarlett came up as a child actor so the focus on her, um, assets weren't so prominent until after she was established. Whereas Sweeney's big break was getting them out and they've been prominent ever since.
