The AFL had a day game which aired in 3 markets and a night game which aired in 2 markets.
As much as you love to derive a perverse sense of joy from seeing AFL fail, any comparisons are meaningless in this case.
Aww diddums poor afl couldn’t put two games together at one time and present it as a single game when they release the ratings figure

If the games weren’t shown in some states that shows afl isn’t a national sport

Rubbish. It shows they cater for fans in local markets by allowing all non-Victorian teams access to watch every game on FTA. The NRL would be wise to do the same for Perth Bears and the Storm.
Why wouldn’t those games also be shown in all markets if afl has a national following ?

Ratings up 5.8 percent

25.1 million includes Fox / kayo

“The NRL recorded total viewership of 224 million across Australia and New Zealand last year and V’landys believes the code will smash the 300 million mark by 2028 when the competition expands to 19 teams.
“Once Papua New Guinea and Perth come in, we’re looking at that (300 million viewers),” V’landys said.

The standard will have to improve significantly if the game is reaching those goals.

$4b over 5 years would be unbelievable and set NRL for huge success $4b over 7 years would be good but obviously in a different league

I just hard to believe we could get that, but it keeps on coming up.
Would be the end of union in Oz and eventually NZ, the money we could spend on development would put a serious dent in the fumbles ranks as well.

Not one Fumbler will believe they are any chance of getting that amount

700 million a year is amazing

If Pvl gets 800 million it will be stunning and I can’t work out how he will get it it’s such an outlier compared to what afl got

Different body shapes vis a vis fumbleball and league there’s not really much crossover in athletes there.

Union yes but only backs really

Not true mate, get them into the gym instead of starving them and you wouldn`t recognize them.

Don’t really see it. A few of their tall blokes could make a winger with a hell of lot of training. Maybe a good kicker in their game could make a half if they committed at like 16-17.

I think we are really underestimating how different the games are. Israel and Karmichael Hunt really struggled with AFL despite what we think of that game. Same thing would happen if an AFL player tried rugby league.
