Cleary has always been surrounded by 7-8 state of origin players - that is down hill skying.
Heck Moses has been the one at origin level doing that between the 2 of them when they play together.

Cleary is the GOAT.
Moses is a very good halfback

The difference in class and consistency isn't even worth talking about the two in the same sentence. Moses cant control a game. He is unable to build pressure. Even this season he has had ample chances to calm the side down and just play for territory. He likes the big play.
Its like comparing Joe Flacco and T.Brady.

Moses is our best player and not our best leader. His carry in and behaviour is contagious. Kicking, playing 7, goal kicking and being captain is not a smart move.

No doubt I’ll get attacked for saying that. Hes a brilliant half, he should not have the C next to his name and the market may dictate he is a $1.3mil+ player but after missing him most of last year I was excited for his return but he is not playing like it.

Pezet, a young and inexperienced 6, who could be classified as a below average player, with terrible defence, is a bad signing, unless Ryles is playing 5d chess. We should have tried harder to keep Blaise, who looks strong now, probably as a result of iron sharpening iron (in training).

Brian Kelly honestly looked like he was trying to lose the game against the Tigers. Too very obvious poor mistakes were just way too bad for a first grader.

I'm not sure what Ryles is trying to achieve, to be honest.

The team has regressed, Moses can't compensate for that. He's almost 32 and beginning to slide. It's not his fault but that's how it is in today's turbo type of game. I'm actually surprised that the player union merkins haven't given voice about players and their shorter longevity in the game. Players careers must now be shorter so they are only going to ask for more to compensate. But it's next batter up as long as the NRL continues to make bank.

We had a very strong offer for Blaize. He was absolutely wanted.

he didn’t see a path with Brown and Moses locked up long term

Lets just all be honest with ourselves. Imagine being in Blaizes position. Stay at Eels for 500k or play with Nathan for 450k.
Anyone smart would forfeit the 50k and go. Smart move. He is being eased into grade. At the Eels he would of been under pressure from the get go to perform.
Think of what his next contract will be. Had he stayed at the Eels I have zero doubts he isnt the player he is now. And his next contract would be half of what it will be when it's up next at Penrith end of 27.
He did the right thing

Nathan f**king Cleary - Penrith needed him to stand up in the Grand Final recently, so he said hold my beer, give me the ball, kicked a 40/20, and went berserk, and won Penrith the game.

Moses wants the big bucks, but doesn't want to perform to his price tag.
Yeah that Grand Final was insane, before that I had Moses ahead as a player (just sadly with a worse team), but after that it’s Cleary first daylight second. He seems to have gotten even better somehow as well.

Its a fair point about the captaincy but then again who do you give it to. Moses isn't 100% I feel he is basically trying too much, with the responsibility of a 7, goal kicker and playing with a dud play maker. When things aren't going his way, it frustrates him. Can't excuse the touching of the ref, but I can't understand why Moses wouldn't have challenged the supposed high tackle right on full time?

I kept thinking to myself that Moses was his equal....

After that, I changed my mind.

Moses is phenomenal, but he will not dominate a game that way on a routine basis.

Cleary has ice in his veins.

He's a freak.

I agree with you.

Great player.

But he's not playing to his price tag, and he's not a natural leader.

Btw - I love Mitchell Moses, and I'm glad he's an Eel.

But time, and time again, we've relied on him to ice a game, and his record in doing so is 50-50, at best.

It's frustrating that we can't call on the game's highest-paid player (allegedly) to dominate when we need him to.

I'm so jealous of watching Nathan Cleary effortlessly kick a 40m field goal with no time left on the clock to tie a game, or kick a 40/20 and then immediately set up a try to dominate a Grand Final...

Mitchell Moses is supremely talented, but he's not what I would call a consistently clutch player.

His credibility is in tatters after his “How did we get it so right call”

There is no coming back from that. Utter shill.
We recruited well last year and finished the season strongly. We are going worse now because we lost Lomax and now have all these injuries. Not because the squad is shit as you keep trying to claim.

Those same 7-8 Origin players helped get the team behind on the scoreboard, until Cleary mounted a rescue mission...
Or did the Broncos shit the bed? They completed at 71% in that game. That's nothing to do with Cleary. The Panthers completed at 97%. They just wore the Broncos down with weight of possession, and Cleary's the one who always gets the ball against a staggered defensive line.
