Yeah barring an early injury the decision on who the fourth guy will be is rarely happening before the last 20 mins so its just keeping things open. Cogger and Lussick are both perfect for that bench role, throw back to cup for 80 mins every few weeks perhaps but they are veterans, they know their role in our system they dont need huge minutes every week. And tbh when Lussick doesnt play FG he still goes back to cup most weeks unless travel doesnt allow it.
Agreed. This is what I was getting at earlier. I think a lot of the perceived problems with Ivan's use of the bench have at their core been down to a lack of options. He only had one utility slot so there were a limited number of times where what he had matched with what he needed. He has more options this year, so of course his use of the bench has improved. The idea that he just woke up one morning and realised he needed to get his 14 involved more regularly strikes me as fanciful.

Not saying it’s fact but I think Ivan is playing Cogger each week so when he takes Nathan’s role at Origin the team is less disrupted

That is a possibility.

I'm hoping for a win, but assuming nothing. Dogs no their day are very capable of beating Penrith. Penrith need to be up for this game, because we're no longer flying under the radar.

I've learnt over many bitter years not to count 'chickens' or even Panthers before they hatch........

I think the way we are playing currently I see no reason why we won’t continue on our winning ways in this one. Other than unforeseen injury or a send off multiple sin bins it’s hard not to see anything other than a comfortable win. I think we will be too good. Any win will be fine, another two points would be great going into a tricky away contest in Darwin against the Dolphins. They have been a bit hit and miss thus far but can be dangerous when things go there way.

Beating Dyl Edwards in the preseason fitness tests and then helping put 50 on Melbourne is enough for me
He was the fittest bloke at the club in preseason!? Wow, did not know that. Must have some engine on him.

The whole fittest from pre season tests is a bit of a red herring in many respects.

Toby Crosby was bench pressing records and some had him in our top 17.

There are players who just excel in all the metrics they use in terms in terms of overall fitness levels. It doesn’t always translate onto the field in terms of performance.

Back in the day it was reported Jack Hethrington was excelling in all areas but it didn’t help him stop hitting blokes in the head and getting suspended.

By all means the measurements are a valid tool used by our high performance team but they aren’t the be all and end all.

Game day feeling very positive.

Dogs aren't going crash hot but it would be good if they can boost this crowd over 30k. I mean that is what they are good at pulling big crowds never mind results.

EDIT:

23,597 at Homebush last year. The game where we rested our whole squad. Surely we can break that.

given the easter show is on - disappointed NRL & Dogs aren't trying to throw tickets away to this game - minimal entry for GA/nosebleed tickets - anything to get people in
