POACHING WAR FOR EELS ROOKIE

Parramatta are facing a battle to keep boom rookie Apa Twidle.

Sport Confidential can reveal Twidle has attracted interest from three NRL rivals in the wake of his stunning two-try debut against the Wests Tigers on Easter Monday.

Twidle’s management has fielded an inquiry from Phil Gould’s Bulldogs and the Dolphins, while Mal Meninga’s Perth Bears are also watching the young gun closely.

Twidle is off-contract at season’s end and has been offered a development deal by the Eels for 2027.

But the Eels may have to up the ante following Twidle’s brilliant baptism against the Tigers, which has piqued the interest of NRL suitors.

The 21-year-old Kiwi is one of the most versatile players in the league, capable of playing wing, centre and in the halves.

No bidding wars ffs. If he's gotta go, he's gotta go.

Seriously we have incompetent morons running our club , cannot sign players from other clubs unless there past it or not wanted by there current clubs , we need to see a psychologist for supporting this club

MON couldn’t win a bidding war in a chook raffle so that’s certainly not an option. The kid seems to genuinely love the club, that’s probably the only chance we have of retaining him. If not i hear that ex NFL/ NRL legend Greg Smith is available.

Just looking at the rosters at Dolphins and Dogs, how the fc*k do they have room to sign a decent newcomer and our esteemed duo doesn’t , something is off and like most errors if it happens, no one seems accountable.

Which decent newcomer are you talking about? Twidle? He is a fullback and Tracey isn't contracted for next year. Meanwhile we have Iongi locked in.

If he does leave it hope he goes to a team that would appreciate him and not chew him up and spit him out like Gould will at the dogs..

I would keep him and play him at 6 or 7 in Cup next year. Let Volkman leave and have Fletcher also develop in CUP as a 6 or 7..
