Sack Flanagan

Just a thought, our forwards are not really the problem. Our backs have defensive issues and we can't create or capitalise on opportunities.

Our coaching staff, Flanno, Dean and Ennis, all ex hookers, have the forwards going well but perhaps aren't great with backs.

Maybe it's the balance, not one particular coach. We need someone that can coach our backs in both attack and defence.

Oh yeah, some new cattle would ge good too 😀

I was on board with Flanno Snr all last year. Was competitive before the injuries and the team was having a dig.

At the start of the season Snr spoke about letting the ball "talk". The ball been silent for the five games so far.

Flanno looks as though he will die on his sword which I truly can't understand. Surely, if your job is on the line, you have to be flexible and accommodate some change.

Ennis is on his way to ESL.
Hopefully Flanno and Youn are saked next week.

I'd like to see Talau as interim head coach and he can choose his assistant coaches.

Fitness staff should be on notice to lift their game.

Players should be advised that for the rest of the season exxtra fitness drills will be held to get them match fit (be able to perform for 80 mins)

Not bad, I don't mind trialing Gutho at right centre and move Val to left wing for CT.
Maybe at the back end of the year we might see some changes.
Then again I think we saw a lot last year only because of injuries.

Gutho moves laterally like he is stuck in mud. No way in hell he is a center or an winger god forbid that would be suicide. Gutho needs to medically retire but he won't because Shane signed him on 900k+ contract and he still has next year. Holmes, Cook and Gutho would be the first gone for me. Leadership? They have shown fk all leadership for the money they command

Well .... Possum,
I like it.

I'm personally shocked that it has come to this. We can add or subtract due to firm, return, injury but,

By George!
I think he's got it !

Gutho can given a coaching job, just like Cook.

Shane "Kyle is the best halfback at the club" 😂 unbelievable. He is such a dope, why sign a player who has hardly played much first grade at 7 and be vocal about him getting first shot at the 7 give him a few rounds and then all of a sudden Kyle is the best 7 again. This is our coach ffs what an idiot
He has lost the plot and has brought all this on himself ..........

This is what people think of Shane. He is out of touch and hopefully today is the last game he coaches for us and we can move on from this nightmare.
Great write up by Webster and summarises everything nicely. I like the line about Flanagan being desperate for a head coach role which he definitely was, for years his name was thrown around but every other club turned their nose up at him and for good reason.

The desperate part rings so true in most of his actions since he has been at the club such as:

- Signing has beens, Gutho and Cook top the list.
- Signing his 'ever reliable' son almost immediately upon becoming coach. Then showing young halves the door so that he can keep picking his son with justification, trying to prove to everyone that his son is not a useless POS of a first grade NRL player.
- Prioritising said has beens over younger player development.
- Promising to play finals yet performances have increasingly become worse in his tenure.

I really hope you're right Stewie and that the Flanagan nightmare comes to an end over the weekend or early next week at the latest.

It is high time we employed a coach who demands and gets control of the football department and gets it running like a professional business. A coach who can see our great nursery of juniors and develop the kids in to future stars of the game. A coach who is meticulous and works to a proper long term plan, not short term desparation.

SF’s entire tenure has been subject to questions

Was he the right cultural fit post peptides?
Was he over rated?
His choice of senior assistant coach?
His recruitment of Kyle?
His keeping of and then letting go of Hunt?
His recruitment especially Kyle?
His own extension then Kyle's as well as others?
His letting go of young fast players?
His constant selection of duds?
His constant media presence promising much delivering zilch?
His signing on of a part time attacking coach in Ennis?
His boring game plans?
His risk taking and failures re injured players making early returns including his own son?
His constant poor results?

So many questions with so many bad answers.

The positioning of KF as the clubs best halfback highlights the abysmal recruitment of the club. There have been options available and we have not gone hard enough for them. Now the reputation of the coach is that he destroys halves, and sadly, it is a reputation he has earned and difficult to dispute. Our lack of creativity for a long time simply has not been addressed with a preference for completion rates and one out bash and barge. Resulting in a record breaking losing streak.
Flanno doesn’t have the players to change the projection of the team and I have not seen evidence that he is adaptable with his game style and strategy. With or without him, this is the season of failure.
