The Dragons have denied the release request according to the Sydney Morning Herald.

The following article it just published (source: https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/un...ng-gun-s-release-request-20260415-p5znzk.html) makes for interesting reading as its author claims he saw the wording of the release request and quotes it in his article -
Not the first player in reserve grade to say something similar recently.
The fact our coach thinks both Lawrie and Guler offer more than Loko (and Halangahu) at this current time just shows what a stubborn and misguided clown he is. It's kind of fascinating to watch a coach who won a club's maiden premiership just 10 years ago self destruct so disastrously and so quickly. Just wish it wasn't happening to my team.
Oh well I guess having nothing to cheer about for the next five years or so is something I'm used to now. Glad to see we've replaced the Tigers as the team every one either mocks or feels sorry for.

That discussion goes around in a circle a bit.
I don't like that panel one bit.
But I forced myself to read the transcript.
In the end they seem to also agree SF does not have the players to bring up - admitting that Reed would get targeted.
Anasta says that himself.
But intent on blaming SF for something, they then criticise him for letting go three halfbacks.
That's a bit rich I think.
JS and LI did nothing for us, while here.
Jonah Glover was different, he left before getting a NRL game.

Personally, I would have liked to see Kade Reed get a run this week and Kyle dropped or on bench as 14.
But that hasn't happened.
Would Reed be targeted?
I guess so, but there seem to be ways around that.
Didn't Roosters play a guy with a busted shoulder in a Grand Final??

I am going to put my optimist hat on, as I am actually feeling quite flat about our situation and direction..
Perhaps Reed is a smoky to start as a late call up with Flanno keeping the media heat on himself..as said earlier I would also be switching in Halangahu.
It’s a good time to also say to Loko ok, you think you are ready for first grade…go out there, rip in and show us what you can do.

That's what we think or hope for every week but every week selections remain.

Interesting stuff coming out of the Raiders.

Tamale in NSW Cup this weekend. Hold on, though - it was by his own volition. He decided he wasn't helping the team and took a step down.

Would be nice if any of the selfish pricks in our team (you know who the main ones are), who get selected week-in-week-out, regardless of how shit they've been, had that same kind of selflessness.

And yet we let Tamale go!

Seen Lawrie shaking his head in the dressing room maybe after last week.
He should so the same.
Hasnt scored a try or broke a tackle for at least 3 years.

I'm 73 years old. Followed the Saints since I was 10. Went to games with Dad. Was at the 2010 grand final with my son. One of the best experiences with him. Since then this club has been an absolute shit show. A few descent moments but not many. Now I'm finding it extremely hard to care what happens. When Bennett wanted 5 years and was knocked back, that was the start of me loosing interest. I can not believe that a once great club has become what it is today.

Its incredibly sad @stevedragon .

The Bennett Years covered over problems in the background.... Shows you what a great man manager and coach wayne was....there were problems even then.

Its been nothing but disaster after Disaster... Price - Mary - Hook - Flanno....

All have been subpar ....

The common denominator is the Board...

Unfortunately I cannot see anything changing....

We need the NRL to step in and demand change.....

Otherwise, they may as well shut up shop or become the PNG Dragons....

Yea its a deadset tragedy. This club really needs a complete overhaul its at rock bottom. Im getting the impression that illawarra are a big f***** problem that dont give a shit about success. Go back to being St.George Dragons is the only way forward.

When you think of prominent Australians who support the Dragons, you would think sooner or later we could revamp the club with better resources/opportunities for third party sponsors and actually start to look like a professional outfit. For example John Howard, Mark Taylor and Mark Latham are all Dragons Supporters. What are we waiting for?

The only game I will go to this year.
Did see John Howard walk out after our loss to the Cowboys and someone apologised to him about the way we were smashed.

I've thought this myself I'm Hornby. I've also come to the conclusion we need ONE single owner. Both parties need to be bought out ASAP. There is always a danger with a single owner/operator model, but can it be worse than what we have now? You don't have to answer that mate. Makes you wonder where we would be if the owner of Sydney Kings had of got us a few years back.

Hate to say it, but I think we haved forfeited the right to be involved in the iconic Anzac Day match now that the contest is so uneven and has been for a number of seasons. The 35,000 fans and returned soldiers deserve more than to see a side get flogged by 30 points every year given the importance of the occassion. The club should be ashamed of for turning this match into a farce...
