Let’s desperately grab a top tier first grade centre started like a Xerri, then I’d be open to having a defensive specialist on the right side, maybe even a converted back rower who is an elite edge defender. Keep that option open for juniors if and when they are ready. Stiffen our edges right up.

Bit of a joke Kenny gets a week on Iongi but Nikorima is getting 2-3. Are people complaining about it or is suspensions an issue when it happens to an eels player?

Bloody hell alot of fatigued players...

Or players that have been taught incorrect techniques...
💯 and you can see the teams copping the bigger punishments are the lower placed teams on the table...
Higher placed teams players get much lighter sentences or a fine
I mean Hopgood copped a week after the 1st game...please its all farcical..zero credibility or consistency

Hard not to think that Rogers and MON don’t realise the value of certain players, bit of a mystery how they seem to escape internal criticism.
Blowtorch will and has to be applied to MON, Rogers and CEO.
The Board and the Chairman will have to act sooner rather than later otherwise they are also being negligent...
We should be thriving but we have 1 or 2 good years then 5 in the doldrums...weren't we advised we want to be competing for the 8 every year? Did they clarify top or bottom 8.
This club is putrid and we haven't even played yet this week. I cant see anything other than a 20 plus fligging today

To be fair, which is rare position I take with regards to MON, Russel was offered representative level money for 4 years - well above the money he would ever get at any other club in the NRL. He salary is more than doubling to what we pay him
Will always happen when a new club comes in to sure up a playing roster.
I honestly dont think there is a salary cap in the 1st yr or 2 considering what ive been told a utility player at best has signed for the Bears for $500k more a season than what he's getting now.
Not a rep player and doubt he ever will be but his manager said mate ur nuts if you dont sign this contract

wish we held onto russell
Agree. Apparently we have enough cap space for 3x$800k players, which we would have known for some time. But we still lost our best centre, one that we’d been developing at that.
Pointing to misses like Galvin, KK overlook we’ve lost 3 current first grade halves and a first grade centre, all of whom we’ve developed, only to pickup the likes of Kelly (below average), JDB (past it), and Pezet (under developed stop gap).
We’re flogging a dead horse discussing it in here, but that’s some high quality recruitment and retention fails right there.

Fair point but looking st the totality of signings and losses. Not pretty.

you know I’m probably one of our harshest critics here on the direction the club is at, particularly on the field but could it be possible that the venues management didn’t tell the bar staff it was an open bar?

just sayin.
I'd be ropeable if I were invited to an open bar and the venues management didn’t tell the bar staff.

So it could be said, they identified his talent much better then us?

The issue of retention and recruitment goes back to 2021, we were in a good position, made the GF knew we were losing significant players and BOOM - extended older players, signed no one despite being an attractive club.
From that point on signing a succession of reserve grade players has dumped the biggest Sydney club in the pits, and yet there seems no repercussions for their role . Terrible and somehow no blame, reading the room doesn’t seem to be part of the CEo and chairman’s process.
