as long as we put back into the competition with juniors ourselves

what is Manly putting back in?

just name every single regular first grade player in the entire NRL that is a Manly junior.

Is Cabramatta part of Parramatta?

Is Mount Pritchard part of Parramatta?

I thought Juniors were actually from the Parramatta area. Be happy with what your club has

I don't expect an annoucement. And I'm not expecting another anouncement on Chris Bailey either. Your club and CEO said they're not going to counter offer and his manager says he'll honour the deal.

Actually Swoop, it is a little concerining that he has not put pen to paper as yet. You wonder why it is being drawn out? The longer it goes on, the odds of him staying at Parra shorten but I don't care, there are plenty of other Eels in the river

To address your attitude about Williams not being grateful of being nurtured - you suggested that you may be being a little harsh - and I accept that. Imagine YOU worked for a company on market based pay, say as an apprentice. You come to your 4th and final year of your apprenticeship, and your employer says, mate, we are struggling to pay all our apprentices at the moment, but would like to offer you a work place agreement on $75k odd for 3 years (example only). You are absolutely grateful - the other workers love you around the work site etc etc etc. The problem is that you have a couple of kids at home, or are cashed strapped for whatever reason (say paying a mortgage instead), and another organisation approaches you, and says El Diablo, we think you are worth $150k per annum, but understand you have had a long association with your previous employer. What do you do? Do you sign with Manly, but bust your gut for the rest of the current year because you appreciate what Parra have done, because it's what is good for your family money wise, and maybe even a slight advancement (regular 1st grade) on where you currently are, or do you say blow the money, blow the 1st grade time, I'll hang around Parra for around a 3rd of my career because it makes everyone feel all warm and fuzzy?

why are you comparing it to an apprenticeship?

last time i checked you couldn't leave a job as soon as you'd finished it. maybe that was just army ones though

and would he be getting offers of any sort if Parra hadn't nurtured him?

maybe he'd be carpet laying.

Now, that being said - I know how you feel. I believe you "might" be hearing in the near future that Matt Ballin will be signing with The Bronco's. I'm filthy about it, but I still know he would absolutely appreciate what Manly have done for him. It doesn't just happen to Parra dude.

Ballin is a Queenslander

don't ven try to compare the two

I regard to the other stuff, Hagan questioned Manly, suggesting we are rorting the cap because we had just signed Bailey, then Williams (where Hagan's coming from I don't know with Bell / Willow / Menzies and maybe Ballin all going), and you gave me a warning saying I was making false allegations, when all I did was cut and paste an article straight out The Manly Daily - with an author - with a date. Therefore, I am not just "going off my tits" mate. It kind of annoyed me is all.

the only posts of yours i deleted were articles that had no link/source

you should read the guidelines http://www.leagueunlimited.com/forumrules.php#source

You then said that Williams "obviously" wasn't grateful. It wasn't that obvious to me. The way he played for you guys made me think quite the opposite really. You just made that up. You alleged he wasn't grateful.

where would he be now without Parra?

what did he do in return for Parra developing him?

I hope you can see where I'm coming from - and I now realise that there has to be a link in an article, and will do so in the future. Why, is beyond me, as it would just be a link to where someone else cut and pasted it, so it would really just be a waste of time.

to check it's validity and to give credit to the original source

pretty simple stuff

And Minto, I thought that it was in the Campbelltown/Liverpool area? Isn't Hayne from this neck of the woods?

CURRENT Manly players that are REAL local juniors (i.e. Born and bred on the Nth Beaches):- (I take this as a minimum of 5 1st grade games in the last 12 mths (from around June last year):-

1. Vic Mauro (Mona Vale)
2. Adam Cuthbertson (Avalon)
3. Anthony Watmough (Narrabeen)
4. Steve Menzies (Belrose)
5. Jason King (Harbord)

5 players in the entire comp

A paragraph from the above link:

Fitzgerald confirmed teenage sensation Tony Williams was no chance of staying at the club despite suggestions he was suffering cold feet over his decision to sign with Manly following his first-grade debut against Canberra last Saturday night.
"Nothing's been officially signed but we've spoken to his manager several times today and he assures us that there's no drama," Sea Eagles chief executive Grant Mayer said.

What part don't you understand?

Guys as I posted last week Grothe is being pushed REAL hard to take the dollars from catalan as I reported last week ( now reported in rugby league week),as soon as he is released (punted) then williams will be signing a new 3 year deal. This is fact thats why Manly or anyone else cannot confirm a contract because there is none.So keep the faith guys HE will be staying with us.I may be a Kiwi Eagle but I not a manly sea eagle.I repeat I will have the news before anyone and IT is a done deal.To all you Dumb Ass manly fans saying fitzy said mwe won't be making another offer you are dreaming he is just playing it very smart unlike your fat arse chief MAYER.

well, I'll say this much Kiwi, you're sure as hell keeping me interested.

Dear lord - I was using the apprenticeship as an EXAMPLE, as I clearly stated. I don't know if you have a job to understand that intention, but if you don't, think of it as lining up at the dole office, and they offered you a bigger weekly cheque or something. Your obviously not understanding the message I'm trying to get through here. Just dont allege a player feels a certain way because you think it's obvious to you, yet pull other peoples posts that are dead set cut and pastes of an article - accusing them of making what you have done here - an allegation. Also here is my exact post that you deleted as me making allegations (I actually DID have a link - look at the bottom !!!:-

Tony Williams
MANLY boss Grant Mayer has accused the Eels of ``sour grapes'' after Parramatta coach Michael Hagan questioned the Sea Eagles ability to afford outstanding young prospect Tony Williams.

The Sea Eagles beat off six rival clubs to secure the 19-year-old to a three-year deal yesterday.

The backrower-centre is considered one of the brightest young talents in the game, currently playing for the Eels in the under-20s Toyota Cup.

Williams' switch to the Sea Eagles stunned Parramatta officials, with the club taking the unusual step of issuing a press release to express their extreme disappointment.

But Hagan went further, questioning Manly's financial position to sign the Junior Kangaroo until the end of 2011.

``Do Manly have a different cap to everybody else?'' he asked The Manly Daily last night.
``Didn't they just sign Chris Bailey?

``They must have a very, very good accountant.

``It's always disappointing to lose a quality player who has come through the system, but at the end of the day the offer to go to Manly was nearly double what we offered.

``It was a no-brainer for the player and his manager.''

Mayer bristled when told of Hagan's comments.

``It's a simple case of sour grapes,'' Mayer said.

``Parramatta have for a long time had a depth of players that most NRL clubs have looked on with wonderment.
``To get one away from them is a tremendous coup for us.

``We paid the player what we believe he's worth. If Michael Hagan is intimating we are doing something outside the cap, there's avenues he can go through to make those allegations.''

Chief Sea Eagles recruitment man Noel Cleal said Williams has the potential to establish himself in the game.
``This kid is all power,'' Cleal said. ``He's explosive and can play centre, but is probably going to make his mark as a backrower.''

Therefore, your rescind of this was totally biased and unbalanced !!! I didn't realise. Mate - you had me thinking I did something wrong there too ! Gee Wizz.

Ballin is a QLDer your right - as much as Williams is a Kiwi - not a Parra born and bred player.

Did I write the article? Do you think I'm Grant Mayer. Now show me where I said he had signed?

a poster asked why he hadn't signed. you replied with that link

now if you weren't claiming he'd signed then why did you answer his question?

Wrong. The poster asked when it was going to be announced. I posted the link. Get your facts right
