Hey Ryan, can you explain how Manly are the only club that could upgrade the contracts of all it's stars and then buy Perry, Lstrange, Bailey and Williams. Don't even start with the players you let go like Monaghan etc, because he would barely cover the arrival of Perry.
Cuthberson, Geln Stewart would have got sizeable upgrades, between them I believe their ipgrades would be worth arouind $300k, not to mention the 3 year deals Kite, King, Matai, Watmough etc all signed and lets not forget Brett Stewart would have got a massive upgrade.
I've seen what parra had to do to give upgrades to Mateo, Inu and Hayne.
We lost a host of players and couldn't sign anyone because of this.
Last time I felt this sus was 2000 when the Bulldogs were at it.
People are really starting to question Manly's abilities to sign all these players.
As for Williams being a man of his word. HE'S GOING TO MANLY FOR 1 f**king REASON $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
Mate - a few things here - and I'd only ever be guessing as I'd have no idea in hell how things are ACTUALLY managed, but my opinion:-
We have selected players in certain positions that we have obviously invested a fair bit of money on true enough. That said, our wonderful coaching staff have a knack for turning Premier League players into almost rep type players. There aren't many teams that have the Halls, Bryants, Roses, Ballins etc in them. There also aren't many teams that have players getting as large a compensation as Menzies is getting because of tenure. Basically, lets look at it this way, and you tell ME how we fit our players into the cap - who has the better teams here:-

Our coaching staff can't be blamed for getting lesser players to improve into rep players. Well, I shouldn't say lesser players - just players that haven't reached their potential until Des gets them.
Before anyone questions the team that has never cheated the cap , they should look at their own backyard, and consider why their gun juniors want to play for us.
It's not Manly's fault that we just seem to consistently produce over the past 3 years. It's just a great, well oiled system.
Remember - players like Menzies have turned down mountains (funnily enough from YOUR mob who wanted him) to remain at HOME. All he said about your approach was, "nope, to far away from the beach".
