Their was a post in these forums sometime last week saying that the nrl should develop a commission to run the game which has no ties to clubs and is all about the growth of the game

Looking at the people involved in the afl commission most of them are ex aussie rules players who have gone on to have successful business careers, i was wondering what ex rugby league first graders are now succeeding in the business world

League's working class origins are being bared for all to see.

That's why union can afford to pay the big bucks even if their competition doesn't attract the TV deals of League and AFL. They have supporters from the North Shore and Eastern Suburbs who work in business, buy corporate boxes or back the clubs financially.

League's biggest back is probably Peter Wynn's Score or Siro's Krispy Kreme. For f**ks sake, the Bulldogs' arm sponsor is Bankstown Sports Club!

Exactly!

Trying telling that to the people who fervently insist on situating a team in every single western catchment area at the expense of more affluent inner-city/ north shore localities.
We need to strike up a balance rather than selling ourselves short as the working class game.

Wayne Bartrim.

He must be polular because he gets chased from one end of the country to the other by a whole hoard of creditors and officials.

Mark Sargent and Tony Butterfield are both educated, eloquent, business minded, and successful.

and both have been thrown out of the front rowers club for it...

I think most the previous posters have done an ordinary job.

John Fahey!

John Quayle! (I know he was head of ARL but he has been very successful with MI associates)
