Well it only took a few attempts for the man in you to admit it.

Amazing what a good night's sleep can do.

So tell me, are you 'back-peddling' now? Or would you prefer, 'had a change of mind'?
You said St George ALWAYS took the best juniors from the Illawarra. How else would you like me to interpret it?

As I said, you probably just didn't think it through. Or perhaps it will take a few more posts for you to admit that as well.

Yes, you want to tell another supporter how he should support his club.

Let's get this straight, and don't get stressed.... but you're not a Dragons supporter. You're not even a Steelers supporter - you made it clear that you abandoned supporting Illawarra in favour of the Knights.

You're entitled to your view, and you have a 'soft spot' for the local area... but let's make no mistake, the only tangible qualification you have is your postcode.
Yes I know that. And you made an incorrect statement when you said St George ALWAYS took the best juniors from the Illawarra. Already said all this.
Oh good... putting words in my mouth. lol.

I'm afraid the winky emoticons offer you little defence. I knew you were a Knights supporter... I read your previous post. Why else would make the Wes Naiqama comment? Word of the day: comprehension.

But again, even if someone did call you a Steelers supporter, then so what? It seems to have touched a nerve.

Jeezus Willow, you really know how to blow absolutly everything well out of proportion dont you. Your stubboness really is quite astounding

I am through replying to you on this topic as you seem to have a mindset for going in hard at anyone that doesnt share your views. Having a look at some of your previous posts it is pretty clear to me now why some here view you as a "forum bully", their words not mine but pretty apt all the same. I hope for yoursake that your not as petty in life as you come across on these forums champ.

I have a feeling you'll reply to this with a "Touch a nerve", "Run away" or whatever post but truth is champ I really couldnt be f**ked wasting my time continuing with this keyboard screaming match you seem to excell at.

Enjoy life mate

Careful, you'll run out of emoticons.

Blown out of proportion? lol

You were making stuff up. Pure and Simple.

There's a difference between holding a viewpoint and telling whoppers.

You were caught out and you didn't like it.

Hey 'Joker'...

http://barb.velvet.com/humor/lurkers.html

To the tune of "My Bonnie Lies Over the Ocean":
The Lurkers support me in e-mail
They all think I'm great don't you know.
You posters just don't understand me
But soon you will reap what you sow.

Lurkers, lurkers, lurkers support me, you'll see, you'll see
Off in e-mail the lurkers support me, you'll see.
The lurkers support me in e-mail
"So why don't they post?" you all cry
They're scared of your hostile intentions
They just can't be as brave as I.
Lurkers, lurkers, lurkers support me, you'll see, you'll see
Off in e-mail the lurkers support me, you'll see.
One day I'll round up all my lurkers
We'll have a newsgroup of our own
Without all this flak from you morons
My lurkers will post round my throne.
Lurkers, lurkers, lurkers support me, you'll see, you'll see
Off in e-mail the lurkers support me, you'll see.

Willow;4425981]Thankfully the opinions exist, otherwise we'd all be mindless robots agreeing with the party line.

Opinions are kind of essential in discussions in debates.

I agree. Although I've noticed you're not quite as philosophical when someone's opinion opposes yours.

A key part of the debate is whether or not the JV has been successful. In what way do you think it has it been successful?

The two sets of fans, for the most part, get along well, there is very little friction in that regard. The two clubs Illawarra and St George appear to get along well as business partners, atleast it is portrayed that way.

Personally, I can't see how it has been successful on the football field.
Prior to the JV, Saints had a recruitment and retention policy which saw us to three grand finals in the 1990s. We have not made a grand final since 1999.

So onfield success is measured by how many times we finish 2nd?

Even in the the 1920s, Saints were good enough to be runners up. This decade looks likely to be the first ever that a Dragons team will fail to qualify for a premiership decider.

You've given up on finishing 2nd in 2008 or 2009 already?

Well the club took an annual loss last year, but they still have the money.

That's good, you'll excuse me if I don't share your optimism. I certainly hope you're right.

Indeed, and those juniors could have also been there as a feeder arrangement or fought over on the open market - we certainly see enough Illawarra juniors playing in other clubs. Saints may get first dibs in a lot of cases, but the salary cap and other considerations means that we can't keep them all.

8 of the Dragons current first grade starting team are Illawarra juniors. I doubt that there are any other clubs with that number of Illawarra juniors in their squad, let alone their starting team. I wouldn’t be so quick to downplay the importance of having access to the Illawarra juniors.

Here’s an interesting article, which I believe gives a pretty fair summation of the current state of the JV:

Sorry, Jonesy, can you re-edit that so I can read it please?

Am I to assume that you are the lurker supporting this Knights supporter?

J0nesy, are you completely devoid of logic? Do you understand the difference between an 'annual loss' and having 'no money'?

Quite frankly, I've just about given up arguing the basics.

You said they still have "the money" by that I thought you were implying that they somehow managed to recoup the 1.5 million dollar loss. My concern is that both leagues clubs will continue to lose money and neither will be able to contribute enough to cover the financial costs of the JV.

Huh? whats an annual loss got to do with cash reserves? oops none of my business soz
Well they have something like $6mil in the bank but lost 1.6mil last year. Still ahead of most clubs.

Its your business too... rugby league between Tempe and Dapto needs a strong support and financial base.

FMD, where did I say that? Try and make sense please.

well having that back up reserves is pretty solid and gives your club ample time to work on income generating solutions to replace any downturn in funds the 2 leagues clubs can generate into the footy club. Way to early for anyone to realistically be predicting doom and gloom IMO.

Calm down Willow, no need to get upset about it. You said

.

If I misinterpreted your comment then I'm sorry. There was plenty more to that post that you have completely ignored.

Just accept that not everyone is going to share your view, it's nothing personal.

Yeah. They're pretty soild... talking as a business.

Bricks and mortar in the Taj and about 6 mil in the bank, plus other investments.

What annoys me is that we have gone from normally showing annual profits for over 50 years to showing annual losses in recent years.

The warning bells are ringing loud, how the club responds remains to be seen.

Yeah I didn't realise there was 6 million in cash reserves, that's very reassuring. Still have some minor concerns over the fact that we are now making an annual loss.

Jonesy, let me make this clear that I will debate with you as an adult in this forum environment. If you want me me to treat you as child, then I reply in that manner. No offence.

I suspect you come from from a more sheltered environment, I mean no disrespect by that.

But, for the record, I like you.

I just want you to grow an extra layer and go with the flow. :D

Its a good forum, and a robust exchange of views never hurt anyone.

Cheers.
