Does it work the same for Balmain and then Wests Tigers and St George and then St G /Illawarra? Do these players keep their "1 club" status? Not trying to be smart, actually want the correct answer.

No they don't. It counts as separate clubs.

Regardless of what was agreed at the time of merger.

All I know is the NRL stats recognise them as separate. It's definately the case with Tigers and Eagles, though are you saying it's different with the Dragons? I'm pretty sure it's not but I could be wrong.

St.George-Illawarra records are seperate to St.George's or Illawarra's

Much the same that Balmain and Wests are seperate to the Wests Tigers and Manly and Norths are seperate to the Northern Eagles.

The clubs opinion means jack sh*t in the matter unfortunately.

it's great to see that we still have players who are willing to go as long as they do in the NRL given how tough the comp is. esp players like lockyer who ahve often been criticised for being weak and if he plays onto next years will reach a mark not many others have gotten to.

even players who arent superstars such as Finch and Geyer have done well to have played so many games.

i reckon Manly would see beaver as a 1 club man

pretty much the same view the clubs are taking towards the NRL, as i said i'm sure manly consider menzies a one club player.

personally if i was beaver, i'd care more of what my one & only club thought of me as oppsosed to the poorly run NRL.

all the fans know the truth beaver

I agree. The most amazing thing about Menzies is that he's been virtually free of injury for the majority of his career.

Aside from 1993 when he debuted and only made 6 appearances, and 2007 where he only played 15 games, he's played 19 games or more every season.

Pretty impressive for a forward who has played plenty of rep footy as well

Is he a chance of stealing Terry Lamb's record for most capped player?? He'd have to fall just short if not.

be interesting to see if manly win & huddersfield win who he play for in the world club challenge?

chances of huddersfield winning though are not good!

I think if he plays in the next 4 rounds and in 4 finals matches, he will be equal with baa

if manly lose their 1st final, would that mean they'd have to play one extra final to get to the GF? meaning beaver could possibly break it?

Matt Orford has played 199 games - he's 30 - If he plays another 4 full seasons he'll reach 300 games.
Brett Stewart has played 106 games and is only 23 years old. If he stays virtually injury free, he's not only going to break 300 games quite easily, he'll also go very close to nudging Ken Irvines tryscoring tally. Stewart already has 83 tries. He's 129 short. If he plays til the age of 32, he'll only need to score 13 tries a season on average to beat the record.

That's if he doesn't take up the big money to go overseas. Hopefully doesn't happen but it seems the norm for a lot of players these days before their time is up at NRL level. There'd be a fair few guys out there who could have played well over 300 if they'd stayed in the NRL instead of going elsewhere. I think Irvine's record is pretty much untouchable.

Exactly. What about when a player played for St George against Illawarra; what did they do, play themselves? They are separate clubs - it's black and white. There is no grey whatsoever.

Part of the sweetener for St George 'merging' with Illawarra was that both clubs would keep their history, and servitude for one club rolled into the new merged one.
Thus, Shaun Timmins and Lance Thompson both counted as 10 year players. We were also supposed to have retained all premierships.

News Rorted League reneged, big time.
