Manly after Pearce

Sterling is a Wagga boy who went to school at Fairfield Patrician brothers and Kenny is a Guildford junior.

it's pretty hard to do anything when we continually have the eyes picked out of us by clubs who are too lazy to produce them themselves.

bingo

imagine if the pariahs had to actually spend some money contributing to the games growth instead of just being scavengers and letting other clubs do the hard work

Well you claimed it was hard to do anything with other clubs picking your eyes out, but it would be a bit of a stretch to blame your problems this year on anyone but Parramatta.

You're right, you didn't explicitly blame Manly, but it seemed implied considering this thread is primarily about Manly.

without Parra juniors Manly couldn't field a first grade team

our problems this year are a completely different issue and i said at the start of the thread, Manly will never ever ever lose a player they want to keep, until I'm proven wrong, I'll take that opinion to my grave.

Dave Williams will go from a 50K a year player to a 200 to 250K player at your club in the next 12 months when he signs an extension and for some reason it won't even touch the sides.

So what do you propose, that clubs only play their own juniors? That's a great idea, then Brisbane would win every year, as they have by far the greatest pool of juniors.

So when is it alright to sign a player? Should we have left David Williams alone so that he could have played park football for Hills District?

Anyway I can't be bothered hitting my head against a wall anymore. You can keep on whinging about Manly and I'll continue celebrating our premierhip.

Manly were rubbish after the Northern Eagles debacle, inevitably the salary cap will bite in the next couple of years. I doubt we will be able to keep Orford, at least not unless he takes a significant pay cut, after next year for example.

I disagree.
Pretty sure Manly wanted to keep Monaghan, Burns, Menzies, Bell, Groom in particular over the last 2 seasons and all have gone. Not to mention the rumors of Cuthbertson looking to head elsewhere.

clubs should get dispensation for local juniors

clubs who who rely solely on poaching other players juniors should have to pay some form of compensation to theat club for actually developing them

it's easier for clubs to do well when all they have to worry about is other clubs poaching their first graders

other clubs have to worry about that and their juniors

no they won't..but that's just my opinion.

Orford is now in the twillight of his career and looking at an extension of his contract and may get one but I won't be fooled in thinking that he will be a sallary cap victom, not at his age.

That would still mean Brisbane would be far ahead of anyone else, as they have a huge talent pool to draw from with and get salary compensation.

why are you saying Brusbane has the most?

you are not so stupid as to assume all Queensland belongs to them?

Yeah, but we will probably struggle to hold onto players like the Stewart brothers, Williams, Watmough etc.

Glenn Stewart said he doubts he will be able to spend the rest of his career alongside his brother.

Brisbane has a population of 1.85 million, in a state with a population of 4.1 million. Queensland has 3 teams, and 1.85 million is more than a third of 4.1 million.

so you're assuming Brisbane is all theirs

other teams have links with Queensland/Brisbane clubs

Brisbane don't put all their money into every Queensland or Brisbane club

So what club would you suggest has a bigger juniors area?
