So we are looking for a Test coach with no club or state commitments.

John Lang - an excellent choice.

A better choice by a smidgin - Phillip Gould. How good would the Kangaroos look under him?
you want Phil Gould instead of Ricky Stuart? you mean the king of agendas. No thankyou.

A good Australian coach would kill international league.

Rubbish. Everyone said Stuart was a good Aus coach. And guess what? He was.

But his team lost to a superior outfit in the final, a final in which Stuart made errors, but on the whole NZ were better.

Imo best coach of the last 20 years, other than Bennet. But I doubt he'll ever be back in coaching.

Personally, I think John Lang would make a fine Australian Rugby League Coach.

A man with dignity and class would be much better than the current disgrace.
Actually as a biased Manly supporter I was going to say Hasler.......but I actually reckon Lang would be a good replacement for Stuart!

Hages would be excellent for Australia.
He can't develop players - but if the selectors give him a talented side who all know what they are doing Hages will run them through drills and never say anything nasty to anyone.
It would be a natural progression for Hages.

Luckiest player to ever win a premiership.
Luckiest player to ever play origin.
Luckiest guy to captain a club.
Luckiest guy to coach a premiership winning side.
Luckiest guy to coach for more than 7 years.

It stands to reason he should fall into the Aussie job and win the next WC.

WTF would his agendas have to do with coaching a national side?

Gus is a proven rep coach.

Gus picked the best NSW sides available. If there is criticism, it is that he favoured St George players, but rarely did they let him down. Timmins at pivot was a classic example.

Gus also has the courage to give it to the elite players if they need it. Example: Benny Elias and Andrew Johns

phil Economidis!!!!!!!!!

Now there's one out of left field! Would probably do a bloody good job, too. Add Junior Pearce, who did pretty well with NSW too.

Wally? Remember him at the Gold Coast?

I remember, he resigned, because the football manager booked them in a Caravan Park for a motel and gave them a bucket of Kentucky fried chicken for their meals

Nobody could have coached Gold coast successfully at those times.

He went a lot better as Qld coach, although he was unluck to lose some close games.

People also seem to forget that a captain coached the Seagulls to a Grand final in the 80s. He would be fine as Australian coach. I doubt he would be approached though. I think he was the perfect choice for the Broncos and the Broncos missed a huge opportunity by going with Henjak. I hope that does not come back to bite them.
