You have NFI. The only teams within 1 hr of Gosford (the southern entry to the CC) are Canterbury, Souffs and the Chooks. Quite simply, they have no decent team within coo-ee. Go the other way, and there's the Knights.

Yep - having a team within a 25km radius is a blessing for Sydneysiders, who also have a million people within that radius.

These arguments are simple. Shows your level of intelligence by not understanding them.
Sounds like you have NFI, it takes approx one hour for a train from Gosford to Broadmeadow. Jesus Christ its an extra half hour to interchange at Strathfield and take it to Parramatta or Cronulla, max 2 hours for a train to Leaumah.

I would know considering for over 5 years I made the 2 hour trip from Newcastle to all Roosters games in Sydney.

For all your population Sydney still shows no return, Parramatta is the western CBD and strong team or not should never have under 10k turning out to a game ffs.

You guys have no idea how lucky you are to be able to watch your team live in the NRL. Hell the only time I have seen the Roosters from 2004 onwards is once and that was last year when they played against the GC, and once again in 09 they wont be visiting SEQLD.

Central NSW is spoilt for RL, if CC want a team so bad they would accept the scraps of a re-located. Beggars can not be choosers.

There are plenty more places that need and deserve top grade RL on a regular basis, namely Perth, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba-Ipswich, Wellington, Darwin etc.

Think outside your Sydney fishbowl and imagine living in one of these places, NRL games non-existant and more travelling time to see 1 NRL than the CC to see 10 teams!

f**k you central coast guys talk a lot of sh*t. i live on the gold coast, and i manage to quite easily make the 1 and a half hr train trip each fortnight to see the Broncos. Now instead of whinging, how about you get off ur asses and go and see one of these struggling clubs play. Otherwise the league is gonna get its ass kicked. having a team on the central coast where a likely crowd of 10000 or so will turn out is just gonna take fans away from attendences in sydney which are already struggling like crazy. Until EVERY Sydney team is getting at least 20000+ attendance each home game then it would be so so stupid to add another team within 1 hour of sydney.

As I stated. And, according to Cityrail, an express from Gosford to Strathfield, stopping only at Woy Woy, Hornsby and Epping takes 1hr 09mins.

Jesus Christ its an extra half hour to interchange at Strathfield and take it to Parramatta or Cronulla, max 2 hours for a train to Leaumah.
You stated one hour, not two.

The Strathfield interchange requires a waiting period for the next train. To Cronulla, you have to change at Redfern.

I would know considering for over 5 years I made the 2 hour trip from Newcastle to all Roosters games in Sydney.
Nice to know all Sydney NRL grounds are equidistant to Newcastle by rail. I guess ANZ is the same distance from Strathfield and Penrith

For all your population Sydney still shows no return, Parramatta is the western CBD and strong team or not should never have under 10k turning out to a game ffs.
No return? Manly had a pretty good return this year, didn't they?

You guys have no idea how lucky you are to be able to watch your team live in the NRL. Hell the only time I have seen the Roosters from 2004 onwards is once and that was last year when they played against the GC, and once again in 09 they wont be visiting SEQLD.
I have as much chance as seeing my team live as you have. I thinbk Parra should relocate to Taree. It solves your Sydney problem, and my problem as well.

Just because you moved doesn't mean the Chooks should fold up!!!!!

Central NSW is spoilt for RL,
Good old Group 11. Dubbo CYMS, Cobar, Carbonne United, Dubbo-Macquarie, Narromine, Forbes, Parkes, Wellington and Nyngan. WTF they have to do with the NRL is beyond me!

if CC want a team so bad they would accept the scraps of a re-located. Beggars can not be choosers.
The scraps? WTF are you on about?

There are plenty more places that need and deserve top grade RL on a regular basis, namely Perth, Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba-Ipswich, Wellington, Darwin etc.
Perth had their chance - f**ked it after 5 weeks. Will probably come back again - but geez the market isn't there yet.

Toowoomba - Ipswich - where is the stadium? Gatton?

Darwin - popn 120k and an AFL city? Surprised you don't push hard for Birdsville and Coober Pedy to enter the NRL. At least at Coober they would have an underground stadium with a close roof like Telstra Dome, and the grandstand would only have to have 4 seats in it ffs!!!

Think outside your Sydney fishbowl and imagine living in one of these places, NRL games non-existant and more travelling time to see 1 NRL than the CC to see 10 teams!

To see 10 teams from Gosford, you'd need at least 2 1/2 hours. Lets take a FNF game at Brooky.

You depart Gosford Station at 4.12 pm, and arrive at Central at 5.39. There is a later train, getting in to Central at 6.09, but from there only Sebastian Coe could make the bus. L88 bus at Railway Square leaves at 6.10, gets to Warringah Mall at 7.01. Then a quick footrace up to Brooky - probably detouroing via Maccqas for some malnourishment on the way, and you'd be in the Arko stand catching your breath at the kickoff.

4.12 to 7.30. I make that, with my bodgey mathematics skills, 3hours and 18 minutes.

If you are 3 hours and 18 minutes from your nearest NRL ground, you must live between Port Macquarie and Woolgoolga, or beyond Orange, Tamworth and Moree. Or north of Bundaberg, and south of Bowen. In other words, where no other bugger lives!!!!!!

In short - you are a dickhead!!!!

All For it.

Eagles v Bears would put any other sports rivalry in this country to shame if the Bears were resurrected.

Lets not go Nuts.

It was a good rivalry for sure but better than "any other" sporting rivalry in this Country, thats a slight over exaggeration ever heard of a little thing called State of Origin?

Heck it wasn't even Manly's biggest rivarly, that was Wests (The Fibros V the Silvertails), and being a child of the 70's Id rate Manly v Parramatta as a bigger rivalry in the last 30 years.

Manly v Brisbane's rivalry was so great that Brisbane masterminded their own competition to avoid having to play under a Manly run and corrupted NSWRL.

Not to mention:
Cowboys v Broncos
St George v Cronulla
Canterbury v Parramatta

The animosity caused in the last few years since the shotgun Northern Eagles marriage and the shafting of the Bears, with Manly's recent successes and the Bears battling away in the NSW Cup, a match between these 2 now would be massive. The storm's been brewing for an age. Would be a hell of a match and atmosphere is the Manly game was played at Bear Park annually!

Loudstrat good to see you put in a lot of effort into your reply, sorry to say people lose me when they start chopping up quotes...its god damn annoying; so I'll reply to the main points:

- The hour remark, the 25km radius...these were all simple generalisations. If youre going to base an argument on a trip being 9 min over an hour get real.

- My point still stands, 2 1/2 hours max travelling time to be able to possibly see any 10 of the 16 NRL teams is reasonable. A lot of people spend that much time on a train commuting to work. It still says the same thing - NSW metro (Sydney - Gosford - Newcastle) is spoilt for choice. You can make the trip in one day.

- I never said I expected my team to move with me, I just think it is rich for people from Sydney and CC to whinge about not having a team in CC or northern shore when people like myself barely get to see my team play.

- When I said central NSW I meant the metro region, probably poor choice of words on my behalf

- I stand by Toowoomba - Ipswich; anyone who has been out there recently knows how huge that area has grown and will become in 10 years.

In summary take a fkn chill pill. This is only an internet board - no need to call people dickheads cause you disagree with their opinion...it just ends up making you look like a knob.

OK Brycey. 1 hour suiddenly became 2 1/2 and you still claim you point.

How would a CC team take fans away from Sydney?????

Who would kick League's ass?

And why should EVERY Sydney team have to average a 20k crowd when EVERY non Sydney team doesn't?

Typical NSW bashing. What's it to you if the Bears are on the CC or not ffs?

listen.

There is a big element of Sydney baggin in this thread and we've been there done that.

I am of the opinion that Perth, Central Coast, SEQ and NZ can all have viable teams in the future, WITHOUT cutting the existing teams or forcing them out of their hometowns. It all come s down to how much hard work the game wants to do.

Recently we've heard talks from PNG and Fiji about entering teams in the comp. Pie in the sky now, but if we do the work big things can happen.

At the end of the day who can fault the guys behind the Red and Black army? are the really causing such an injustice in Rugby League by wanting to grow the game, whilst reinstating a piece of history that has been lost in recent times?

Who is to say that the CC Bears wouldn't be a masterstroke? A brand that will be backed by those of the nostalgic nature. A junior base and community support. A sensational stadium to call home and 100 years of History to bring back to life.

I too want to see the game expand into other areas across the country, and indeed the world. I don't think we are going to get that by howling down anyone who wants to grow the game.

Because NSW has enough teams. New teams should be going interstate only.

Because people from areas such as GC and Brisbane (who dont support the Broncos) can relate to people in Perth, Adelaide, Toowomba, Sunshine Coast, Mackay, Wellington, Darwin etc when it comes to not being able to see your team play, or being starved for choice.

People from Sydney and nearby regions do not know, understand or care for that matter. CC people have the capability to see NRL games on the weekend if they really want to. Sadly people from above areas I already mentioned dont have the luxury of that choice.
