agreed, el masri may be past his best but that doenst make him a sh*t player, regardless of his kicking. there are several worse wingers running around in the comp

Other than his goalkicking, I didn't think entirely much of him. But there are better and worse wingers running around, so no reason to not keep his head up.

I just get sick and tired of hearing people label players "sh*t" or "superstars" like there is no in between, just because el masri isnt israel folau doesnt make him sh*t.

Ive got the same pet peeve with the term "overrated", it seems like 90% of the players in the game are "overrated", 9% are "underrated" and the other 1% are rated correctly. There used to be a time when those words actually meant something, now its just an over used buzz-word thats lost all meaning.

Ive said it before and im sure ill say it again, the term overrated is overrated.

El Masri never lets anyone down, he makes good reads in defence, has good hands and is a great goalkicker however in an age where big athletic wingers are now the norm rather than the exception he's kind of outdated. When Hazem started in 1996, fast, athletic, 6'1 90kg wingers were a rare breed, the obvious exception being Wendell Sailor. In 2008 most wingers are over 95kg, stand atleast 6'1 and are quick and athletic. I mean compare El Masri to someone like Shaun Kenny Dowell for example who I'd say is a pretty typical modern winger. El Masri is listed as 178cm, but if he's actually 178cm than I'm not here, Hazem would be no taller than 174cm, and weighs in at 88kg, SKD is 189cm and 96kg, he's got atleast 15cm on Hazem and 8kg as well not to mention athleticism and speed.

As for Utai and Roberts, well Utai was bombed into oblivion at times in 2008 and I can't see why 2009 will be any different unless he's grown 20cm in the offseason. Ben Roberts, well I won't even call him a has been or overrated, he's a never been who was never rated (except maybe by himself).

Well said. Some people will say the most ridiculous things to win an argument or to get Timmah's panties in a twist.
Looks like I'm doing my job well then :)

Some very good posts this morning.

Regarding Utai, there are rumours that he might e used as an impact player off the bench. I think he could be a revelation in that kind of role and pretty much nullifies the whole midget bombing thing.

he'd probably make a handy 9 coming off the bench when you think about it.

Before the Dogs jump down my throat, that shirt just makes me giggle now. Nothing else in it.

Yes, other clubs buy players. Simple as.

I'm pretty sad we're losing Staggy. Every team needs a player like him - he'll work all day for you and never gives less than 100% for the club on and off the field. He won't get into trouble at bars, he won't cost you stupid penalties. No superstar, but I'd have him in the starting squad each and every week because he just won't let you down.

The Dogs' forward pack has definitely lost a lot over recent years & IMO having a bloke like Stagg there will really help.

Does he want to go out like Matt Geyer ??...old, slow and really should not have been holding a first team spot.
