Roger will probably get this one,Rafa will have no juice left which is really unfair.
Spain has some interesting tennis prospects coming up in the next 12 months,Carla and Fernando...it's a Spanish revolution!

Though Verdasco vs Federer would be juicy - I don't think Federer has the athleticism to match Verdasco's shots.

 Federer would cream Verdasco. No doubt Verdasco's forehand is a WMD, but its somewhat un-refined, its wonderful when he's hitting the ball cross-court, but he struggles with the down the line forehand at times. Not to mention that his backhand is piss-weak, which is where alot of Federer's shots would go. Nadal's main problem with Ferdasco's was that his forehand shot was going straight into Verdasco's strength.

I would rather Nadal win, but I have severe questions on how much Nadal has left in the tank after the semi

Nadal is one of the fittest blokes in the world....

he will have plenty left in the tank.

Its not unfair that Rafa might not have any juice left.

Its the way Rafa chooses to play

He mightn't be the most talented bloke in the world. He wins because he is so physical

If thats the way he chooses to play and he runs out of gas its his own fault

Agree 100%, Fed already had to bounce back from a marathon 5 setter and destroyed Del Potro.

This is a great article on the match

http://www.brisbanetimes.com.au/new...mere-open-glory/2009/01/31/1233423017806.html

RAFAEL NADAL can win his sixth grand slam title tonight. At the same age, Roger Federer had one.

So for all the proclamations of Federer's greatness as he attempts to match Pete Sampras's benchmark for the most major triumphs, Nadal's charge through the history books suggests that Federer and/or Sampras could end up as only temporary custodians of the record, making way to a Spanish bull more willing to lose blood than a final.

Nadal has five majors to his credit at the age of 22. Federer didn't win his first until the same age. Sampras had three at the same stage. So tonight, when we sit back during the Australian Open decider and marvel at the all-time great, to which end of the court do we look?

For now, of course, Federer's. It's not just what he does. It's the way he does it. Making such a helter-skelter and reflex-driven sport appear so breathtakingly easy is a demonstration of what Sampras used to call "The Gift". Federer and Nadal are about to write the next chapter in a tennis rivalry fast swamping Borg-McEnroe and Sampras-Agassi as the best ever.

There is an error in the article, as Federer had 2 Grand Slams at that age - just, as he won the AO in 2004(and won Wimbledon in 03), so will have won the AO at 2 months younger than when Nadal 1st won it.

Credit where it's due to Nadal. I was cheering for Federer but Nadal came up huge in so many big points.

He's an absolute freak. Roger was serving at 4-2 in the first and up 30-15 and Nadal plays two of the most amazing points you'll see to break back.

Then in the 3rd he saves 6 break points by playing flwaless positive tennis at 4-4 and 5-5 when for all money Fed was going to win the set.

And in the 5th Federer looked like a beaten man in the face of a true warrior who has nerves of steel.

Nadal just doesn't blink under pressure. What a freak.

In which he kicked his ass 6-2..dick head...
Federer thought he would only have to turn up to win the Grand slam but Nadal wrecked the party.

Ridiculous.

It would have been quite the oppositive actually. Nadal beat Roger on his home turf at Wimbedon last year and Nadal has been getting into Fed's head more and more so if anything Federer would have turned up for the match of his life.

Perhaps thats why he looked so nervous. Atm it will feel like so much of his legacy rested on that match. He knew what was at stake and how hard it would be.

So to say he turned up expecting to win is just silly. Because id say he knows how hard it is to face Rafa more than anyone on the planet.

Im not a huge tennis fan however the standard of play these past few days was just breaktaking. The last 2 matches of the mens draw was just incredible quality, nerve and willpower.

Nadal is unshakeable. Ive watched their finals over the past couple of years and Nadal has a huge mental stranglehold. As the commentators pointed out several times Federer's body language and tightness on big points was in direct comparison to Nadals unflinching belief and energy.

Both are fantastic champions and great sportsman. Nadal will never say so but he would now know Rodger has huge mental scars. Him breaking down at the presentation was sad, it was almost that of a broken man.

Might be a big call but I struggle to see Federer ever beating Nadal again in a Championship Decider again. Tonight he put it all on the line and left a broken man. It was epic stuff.
