The game was against the Raiders... Do they even have fans? Especially in Sydney?

They had a couple of thousand there last night

Souths fans numbered 15,000+ at homebush last week

At best 13,000 Parra fans have watched their team live in the last two weeks

That puts Melbournes capacity crowd in round one into perspective.

The game against the Dragons should get a lot more through the doors.

"huge dragons army" is another myth

Melbourne's problem is that it has wakned on so much about being the sporting capital. Yet it never proves it. And the response? Jump up and down and threaten death is there's a few empty seats in Sydney.

I would love to know how they have not proved it.

In the first two games of AFL this year the attendance was 150 000 people. TWO games, it would take the NRL weeks to get the same amount of people through the gates.

On the same note Sydney can not even fill up a stadium for the State of Origin and that is suppose to be one of the showpeices for the year.

AFL is the only sport?

Storm struggle for crowds.

Union reckoned Canberra and Perth were a better bet.

Melbourne does not have the patchwork of sporting options that Sydney and Brisbane have.

Dragons game sold out at 2pm.

Yah, Townsville is too far for Storm fans to travel so thousands of them have come up to NSW to get their weekly RL fix. You can't expect all 5,000 dragons fans and all of the 4,000 sharks fans to fill even a sh*tty ground like WIN by themselves.

Kudos to Storm fans for keeping the game of RL alive in NSW

AFL is not the only sport in Melbourne it is just at the top of the pile.

Like has been pointed out to you countless times Storm struggle for crowds because they play at a hole of a ground. Yet still manage to almost fill it up.

I am willing to admit that Melbourne people have become pampered with the stadiums we have after moving away from the suburban grounds and people will rater not go than end up at a ground with the facilities that are present at OP.

Just because they have one more sport to add to the poor attendances does not make them better.

Average home crowds

2008
Parramatta 13528
Melbourne 12474

2007
Parramatta 14,142
Melbourne 11,711

2006
Parramatta 14,587
Melbourne 10,853

2005
Parramatta 16,264
Melbourne 8,898

I can see the trend. Melbourne's crowds continue to grow and Parramatta's is declining. This should ring alarm bells for Denise Fitzgerald.

Judged by who?

And their crowd was how big?

If it was AC/DC or a Zeppelin reunion, it might be a valid argument.

Uhh judged by Australians. Sex On Fire was no. 1 for weeks on end and was No.1 on Triple Js hottest 100 voted by Australia. They had four songs on the 100 and had two in the top 3.

Lol, ACDC or Zep. Mate the 70s have officially ended if you didn't get the memo. Next you'll be telling us the Chili Peppers are a pub band just because they don't appeal to the lowest common demoninator.

Songs like 'Soft' and 'The Bucket' were great.

But Kings of Leon have gone all mainsteam now and their music stinks as a result.

Sex on Fire - what sh*te.

Fire, desire, fire desire ahhhh!!!

there was about 30 of us, leagues club end.
And we made more noise then the rest of the stadium.

Despite the fun police being out and trying to get us to stop standing and singing, was great seeing some degenerate parra prick with a disgusting mullet chucked out for abusive behaviour, toddler in arms

JJJ - eh? Wow. Big sample.

BTW, didn't know current bands were automatically the biggest drawcard. I won't mention, of course, that AC/DC is a 2009 global chart topper either. How about, in the interests of your dinosaur analogy, we pretend I meant the Rolling Stones instead.

Where did Kings of Leon play, and what was the crowd?

Doesn't mean people can't think they are shyte! I didn't mind em when I saw em at 2004 BDO. Even the 2006 one. The problem is like all decent bands they've been tainted by commercialism.

:lol::lol::lol:
and thats your way of saying there were a lot of Canberra fans there?

No. Thats my way of saying the entire parra fan base is soft, a hand ful of Raiders fans created more attmosphere and supported their side better then 11 000 eels fans collectively.

I wasnt big noting our turn out, it was poor. More stating how soft the eels fans are
