How about the Roosters/Tigers crowds up against the Swans and Waratahs next door?

Or when your mob got kicked off your home ground for a semi by the Swans a few years ago?

Every club faces it's competition. Every club has to survive despite whatever circumstances arise to impact upon it. Sometimes they win. Sometimes they don't. Personally, I long for the day where Melbourne's average home crowd pegs itself somewhere near the Knights and Cowpats - the clubs that are realistically the top-end benchmark for crowd participation.

Problem is, when Storm fans claim a 14k crowd is such largely because of the comfort of Olympic Park creates some sort of cap on their crowds - which will be alleviated by their new stadium - how come it drops to 10k or 11k? Cronulla posting such crowds are in trouble - Melbourne arent?

And then, abysmally, to claim a 19k bumper crowd is bad - how do you make a shred of sense about that? Because of some idiotic crystal ball gazing which may or may not happen?

Despite the crap from Storm fans desperate to find arguments to punt Sydney clubs, there is really no argument if Parra's crowd average continues to be ahead of Melbourne's as they stand. If and when Melbourne get an average of over 20k, good on them. Going by your assertions, that will be crap and they must be punted. Oh, hang on, they are ok, because they ain't Parra.

You sound like Matt O.

19k. Terrible. Should have had at least 10k sitting on the Thornett and Cronin stands roofs. Or an Anfield crush.

In the words of Robyn Williams aka Adrian Kronouer - no man in history has been in more of a dire need of a blowjob than you.

What kind of scumbag writes this on the anniversary of Hillsborough??

Well, you make the allegations you can't back up, not me.

Saints fans outnumbered Parra fans. OK. Prove it.

Like i said. We wont know for 100% certain but i don't think you will find many people besides yourself who deny that a large portion of the crowd was dragons supporters.

Kings of Leon crowds inhibited Storms crowds v St George. OK, again, prove it.

You dumb f*ck, i never said that and I REPEATED THAT FACT IN THE POST YOU JUST QUOTED YOU ILLITERATE MORON.

What you are saying is just bias, unless it's backed up by some facts. Picking and chosing what other people think to suit your dumb argument does not back up anything, apart from the fact that you are fighting a factual argument without facts. May as well have fought at the Somme without bullets.

Like i said we will see during the rest of the year when your crowds drop straight back down.

We'll see if they have a crowd problem after a few more home games.

Still, I'm stuffed how a home game with 19000 represents a crowd problem. Only needed 983 more fans to be sold out.

If they got capacity, is that a crowd problem?

Getting 19,000 isn't the problem. The problem is that outside of 2 or 3 big local derbies the rest of parra's crowds will only be around 12,000 or lower and this problem is being masked by one big crowded provided by the Dragons.

Well, it's the first time in history where a stadium has 95% capacity and there is a crowd problem.

BTW, only 10 000 at Olympic Park last night. But that's acceptable.

It's not acceptable i even said so in the crowd watch thread. Again your trying to spin the argument into something it's not.

NO ONE IS TRYING TO SAY THAT GETTING 19,000 TO A GAME IS IN AND OF ITSELF A PROBLEM, YOU HAVE TO LOOK AT OTHER FACTORS AS WELL.

Who said Friday is a crowd problem?

You are claiming we did.

No one. I sat in the Andrew Johns stand last year in an 11k crowd. That's a crowd problem. 19k in a 20k cap ground isn't a crowd problem.

It is if there is only 11K parra fans in the ground which of course you will deny but we will see in coming weeks.

FMD - how many ways do we have to scrutinise things to find 'problems'? No we are looking at the colour of clothing ffs.

Whats the point of discussing things at all if we don't talk about the good and the bad? I mentioned that it was a fantastic crowd and than went on to discuss other things about it. That's what a forum is for. What did you expect a giant circle jerk?

FFS! 19k at Parra v Saints - and people whinge. How about SUPPORTING the bloody game when things happen that are good, rather than finding a way to moan and complain!!!!!!!!!!!!

FFS i support the game by being a season ticket holder for the knights and a non ticketed member of the storm.

Your the one not supporting the game. Timmah and i are discussing one of the major problems facing league. You on the other hand just want to igonre it just like the man in charge of your club which is probably why yous lost 9 million dollars.

One good result in a thread about one bad result - but you focus on the bad result.

Besides, this thread was only started in response to a question about a 14k crowd for opening night for the NRL for a club in the last 3 GF's against it's biggest traditional rival.

A club who has finished top[ of the table and made the GF 3 years running pulling 14k, 11k and 10k (average 11.5k) is wonderful. Yet a club with internal problems at board level, a player/coach rift, a $9 million annual loss, a key player quitting, and poor recent form pulling 11K and 19k (average 15k) is poor..........

Nobody says the storms crowds are wonderful. We all acknowledge that they are nothing special but there are reasons for them being that way. If in a few years after moving into a new stadium we are still drawing crowds this small i will stick the boot in as much as the next person.

No, it's also a river in Sudan.

19k is a terrible crowd. Timmah, you are right.

10k is far better.

Nobody said that. You just keep putting words into our mouths to suit your argument. Hows about replying to whats actually posted instead of what you wish were.

Well, Storm fans were quick to attack Parra on one poor crowd, and you jumped on their bandwagon quicker than hungry head lice.

11K to parras first game was terrible and there was no real reason for it so why shouldn't people bag it?

Come back and whinge when Parra's average home ground is less than Melbourne's at Olympic, rather than the weekend of a bumper crowd.

Why should the storm average more at Olympic than Parra do in their stadium? Lets see what happens when the storm have a decent stadium.

No doubt about it. The point is that the storms biggest problem is its home ground and that is being remedied next year.

What reason do we have to think that parras crowds will go up?

Problem is, when Storm fans claim a 14k crowd is such largely because of the comfort of Olympic Park creates some sort of cap on their crowds - which will be alleviated by their new stadium - how come it drops to 10k or 11k? Cronulla posting such crowds are in trouble - Melbourne arent?

Because like every other team in the comp some crowds are bigger than others. When we face higher drawing teams like the warriors where we could potentially pull 18K+ crowds we are handicapped by Olympic park. However when we face lower drawing crowds like Canberra we may only get 11K. What is so hard to understand about that?

Not to mention the main argumnet against OP isn't the capacity it is the sh*tty standard of the ground and the distance from the playing area.

And then, abysmally, to claim a 19k bumper crowd is bad - how do you make a shred of sense about that? Because of some idiotic crystal ball gazing which may or may not happen?

No one said 19K is bad. What we are saying is that if there are only 11K or so parra fans there than it isn't really that good, and once parra are facing teams who wont bring big away support things will drop right back to where they were.

Despite the crap from Storm fans desperate to find arguments to punt Sydney clubs, there is really no argument if Parra's crowd average continues to be ahead of Melbourne's as they stand.

WTF why are we talking about the punting of clubs?

You are right though, if after moving into our new stadium our crowds continue to suck like parras crowds than it will only be fair to bag the storm in the same way.

I hope parra starts to improve their crowds but i don't see that even starting to happen until dennis fitzgerald is gone and your team actually becomes decent.

If and when Melbourne get an average of over 20k, good on them. Going by your assertions, that will be crap and they must be punted. Oh, hang on, they are ok, because they ain't Parra.

If the storm get 1 single crowd of 20K and every other crowd is 11K or so we will bag the sh*t out of them.

However avergaing 20K over a season and getting 1 crowd above 20K is completely different.

You can't even understand this simple argument.

19k. Terrible. Should have had at least 10k sitting on the Thornett and Cronin stands roofs. Or an Anfield crush.

Again no one said that.

You've mentioned Good Friday and Dragons Fans as the only reason the crowd was good.

No one has stated the number of Dragons fans in the crowd. Besides, moot point. The whole object of a crowd is to get people to pay money to get in. This happened 19017 times on Friday night. Therefore - mission accomplished.

We wont know for sure. However when you only draw 11K for all of your games against teams who don't have huge away support like say Canberra it gives us a fair idea.

Your right all that matters is the size of the crowd. If parra could get 19,017 every week that would be fantastic. Problem is that will only happen 2 or 3 times a year. What happens every other home game? that is what Timmah and i are talking about.

You also mention Good Friday. I guess you mean that people only go to the footy on religeous holidays? Or is it a comment on scheduling a match so that people can get to a game. Parramatta doesn't schedule matches. The NRL does. So, if match scheduling is inhibiting fans ability to attend games, how is that Parra's fault?

It's not parras fault. The point is this situation only happens once a year. What about every other home game.

So, it's a good crowd, but you aint happy. Apparently Parra need tro draw a 19k crowd at 2.30 on Wednesday Morning with a barbed wire fence and a minefield around the stadium during an earthquake.

It's so hard to have a discussion when you keep bringing up irrelevant BS that we aren't even saying.

Here let me try and make this simple for you. 19,000 is an absolutely fantastic crowd and everyone agrees on that.

However it means nothing in terms of going forward if the factors that led to this crowd can't be repeated e.g. dragons fans and the public holiday.

What this means is next game when these factors aren't present parra will go back to drawing around 12K or less again which isn't very good.

So in isolation 19,000 is a brilliant crowd. However in the context of what it means for parra crowds outside of this one example it isn't so positive.

I'm sure you will just pick out one thing and reply only to that and continue to ignore any points of discussion. You change everything we say and than get overly defensive about it.

You don't want to have a discussion you want to have an argument.

Wow. You spend a lot of time justifying why you think a 19k crowd is no good. Yes, you admit it's a good crowd. So why can't you just leave it at that ffs!!!!!!

Look all this fighting is getting us nowhere.

Let's just all agree that parra are a loser club supported by a handful of geniused coin chuckers destined for relocation/merging and move on.

Settle down dude. If you guys want fisticuffs, take it to the fight room. Right now we are politely and pleasantly discussing Parramatta's crowd numbers for 2009. ;-)

If this hasn't been answered, I was at the game and I believe the ratio of 11,000 Parra fans to Saints 8,000 would be about correct.
