PARRAMATTA has signed its second star forward in the space of three hours, with Dragons prop Justin Poore agreeing to a three-year deal yesterday. The in-demand Blues bookend is believed to have penned a $350,000-a-season contract, joining Roosters prop Shane Shackleton in blue and gold until the end of 2012.
Poore knocked back a rich offer to join Cronulla and had initially wanted to stay at St George Illawarra for lifestyle reasons. But the Dragons could also extend him a $275,000-a-year deal because of salary cap constraints.
The Shackleton deal was announced this morning. Eels coach Daniel Anderson said he was delighted to land the versatile second-rower.
"We're obviously very happy to have Shane on board for 2010 and beyond," Anderson said in a statement.
"He broke through for his first representative jumper this year and he'll certainly add some versatility and variety to our pack.

"What's more we feel we've got a quality person, not just a quality player."
The 26-year-old has played 53 games for the Roosters since making his first-grade debut against Brisbane in round 25, 2005.
Acting Eels chief executive Andrew Hill said the signing of Shackleton is a vote of confidence in the team and the club as well as the direction in which both are heading.
"We're looking forward to Shane strengthening our team on and off the paddock," Hill said.
"It's important for the club to be able to attract players of Shane's calibre. We also look forward to continuing negotiations with other players for season 2010."

yep its true, telegrpah has the article on it.
f**ken ungreatful prick, after all the club has done for him.
meh Prior to prop, fien to hooker young to back row for 2010,
resign paea and that frees up some $$ to hold on to merrin and we still got saffy.

Can anybody still hear, "Ryles Comeback 2010"?? hahahahahahahahahaha

Perhaps its a form of stockholm syndrome... Justin isn't used to success so he feels the need to go back to a struggling team to feel at home...

I can call a psychiatrist to confirm...

It's immensely deflating to lose Poore, a player we have spent five years (in first grade alone, not including junior levels) developing into a rep-standard prop, only to lose him just as he is bearing consistent high-quality fruit. Even harder to cop than the Brent Kite loss. Making it harder is the fact he's a pretty good bloke, popular with teammates and even something of a philanthropist lately.

The silver lining is 1) we haven't paid overs, 2) it's likely now that we will have an easier job of retaining Merrin and Paea, and 3) in Dan Hunt/Jarrod Saffy we have a young prop more than capable of stepping up into the starting side

Scott Porter is on his way.
Fkn thanks.

Thats good coin. Too god for a prop in my opinion. Good luck to the kid. He's still a Dragon as we speak and right now thats all that matters.

No need to go getting up in arams about what we do next year. Its half way through this season, we are coming first & we have a long way to go. I'd love nothing more than for Frank to leave as a premiership winner.

Sad, but I think it's a manageable loss. It will give us room to re-sign Paea, and hold on to Merrin. I'm sure Uncle Creeping has it under control.

Paea isnt a prop.
We're going to have to purchase another prop now. Dan Hunt and Saffy are good benchies, but arent good enough to be our starting props.

Hope they sign Paea for a few years as he would be much cheaper and if he keeps playing the way he is much better than Poore. He has impressed the hell out of me of late. Hopefully we hear news about Paea shortly extending with the Dragons.

They should of tried to get Dave Taylor. He is joining Souths for the same amount of cash the Dragons offered Poore.

Ryles back at the Dragons? That would be awesome but I doubt it will happen. When is Asotasi off contract?
