Spoon has Warriors name on it ?

Personal pride and the desire to suitably send off some of their departing stars is set to spark a late-season surge by the Sydney Roosters, starting with Sunday's NRL home clash with the Warriors.
Beaten in seven of their last eight games, the Roosters can drag the Warriors into the wooden-spoon battle if they defeat them at the Sydney Football Stadium.
Just three points separate the two teams, though the Warriors still have mathematical hopes of making the finals.
However, the New Zealand team have been road wobblers rather than warriors this year, losing their last seven games on Australian soil.
A loss to the Roosters would almost certainly end any lingering finals aspirations and would also boost the Roosters' prospects of offloading the dreaded wooden spoon.
"We're going to try and win as many games as we can in these last few weeks, there is a lot of personal pride," Roosters centre Mitchell Aubusson told AAP.
"That alone is enough motivation for us to start winning.
"There's three or four really senior guys leaving this year and we'd really like to send those guys out on a good note."
Among the players leaving the Roosters after this season are representative forwards Craig Fitzgibbon and Mark O'Meley, Shane Shackleton and Iosia Soliola.
The Warriors, who have lost their last three games, will be looking for more composure this weekend.
"The boys are trying too hard sometimes, almost too hard," Warriors coach Ivan Cleary told NZPA.
"As a result of that, everyone gets a bit too eager and you lose your shape."
The Warriors suffered a big blow after losing skipper and forward leader Steve Price, who was ruled out after being knocked out in the State of Origin match last Wednesday.
They will blood a new five-eighth in 20-year-old Isaac John.
"He's got a good kicking game, he passes the ball nicely and he's got some good vision," Cleary said of John.
Adding some spice to Sunday's game is the presence in the Roosters' side of four New Zealand internationals and a couple of other players born in that country.
The two teams has had some close and stirring battles in recent years, with the Warriors winning 17-16 in Auckland earlier this year.
"The Warriors are such a big physical team, they are very skilful and they throw the ball around a lot," Aubusson said.
"If one or two people are off their game, they are really going to make you pay, so everyone has got to be really switched on and do their job."

Hmm...sadly I can see the Warriors in line for the Wooden spoon this year. It's not just the losses, there are a few teams around us in similiar win/loss ratios. What is hurting is the attack of the team-There isn't one. The limited options, and the fact all other teams know this, is not good news for us. There is a 'Plan A', and 'Plan B'...cover those two and the attack's gone!
Our only hope, ONLY hope, is if some new plays are suddenly bought in and implimented-The element of surprise is badly needed! That is why IMO new younger players are going well when put in the team.
Bottom line, although it seems to have been coached out of them, they need a licence to go nuts to get some confidence back. All or nothing!

I have a sneaking feeling that Issac John is being set up here.

In such an important position, why put in a debutant who will get absolutely crucified if he makes 1 mistake ?

crazy and I really hope i'm proven wrong.

Cleary seriously needed to have a good look at the main attacking organisers not the finishers or goal kickers but all seems to be lost with so many who have left or are unconsidered this seasons, there arent really any options left without potentially ruining a player mentally.

Spoon if we dont get change

ozbash, you weak, phoney, fake, bitch

We are heading for the spoon predominantly because we signed Stacey

You are the epitome of a gutless coward if you can't face this, you *potentially* hypocritical pissant

Do we think Ivan can out-coach no one on Sunday arvo? It might be a close run finish - Cleary vs N.O Body. On the one hand it's tough to have no coach, but on the other at least you have no one waiting to drop your sorry arse if you produce an offload or show some flair.

Best thing that can happen this afternoon is if Stacey anounces his permanent retirement at the end of the season. Let's move on.

I'll join that, I'm not blaming Jones as the reason for the failed season. I part blame him, as he is in the team of which very few are in form. Case in point: The Price try off a Jones bomb. I continue to bring this up as the perfect example of Jones doing his job, and the rest of the team not-why the only person chasing was an elderly prop does not make sense. I do not understand why this has not been absolutely screamed about.
HOWEVER, Jones has been a big part of the problem this year, cannot deny it. I just don't believe he should be getting the full flack that seems to go his way. Other team mates are crap. Then you have the decision to start Jones in the first place when he was doing okay off the bench in impact role and Fein starting.
Questions need to be asked, Cleary needs to explain himself better and justify what he has done to a team that while hot and cold at times got one game away form the G.F.
Those questions though need to wait until the playoff hopes are gone (almost there), as I wrote them off last year and they proved me wrong.

In the 30th minute, John has shown a touch of class the likes of which we haven't seen since Jones' one good game v Manly. That pass to Ah Van to put him over was spectacular

OMG. You gotta laugh. It has happened for the last two years now, where the week after I have finally given up any semblance of hope they pull out a decent effort. Credit where it's due, I didn't think they had it in 'em. I was stoked when they hit the 20pt mark, that was a victory in itself this year! But they kept at it and showed a bit of fight, and a bit of hunger.
I finally start a working week in a good mood! ;-)
