potential ladder change in 2010?

i think one of the more discussed problems with the nrl at present is the way the ladder system operates. to isolate ourselves, and make ourselves more globally marketable, i think the nrl should demolish the 2 points for a win and 1 for a draw system.

i came up with this idea, that the ladder souly be done on For and against (F/A). so for example if the rabbitohs won there first two games by 26 and 32, then lost there third game by 10, there points on the ladder would be 50. i think this would make the game faster, more exciting, and reward the great attacking players like benji marshall, matt bowen, james mcmanus and brett stewart.

however what makes this system so exciting is, one week you could be 20 points on the ladder, and then the next week you could be -10 points on the ladder. so literally one week you are on positive points, and then the next weeks you are negative

I think "ladder change idea" would have been a better title. I highly doubt the NRL will execute a ladder in next year's competition on the suggestion of some bloke on a forum. The idea itself isn't great either. What competition in the world actually implements such a system? :?

1. Origin would destroy a few teams, causing idiots to want it gone again.
2. You won't reward consistency for those teams who are good at winning the arm wrestles.
3. How do you fine teams competition points?
4. Refereeing decisions could cost teams multiple points at a time, causing the system to again be over looked.

That's a terrible idea. Made even more difficult by the fact that not all teams play each other twice.

I don't see a problem with the current system. You win you get points, you draw you share points, you lose you get nothing.

I can see value in rewarding teams for close losses and punishing those who give up however.

Maybe there should be 4 points available in every NRL game.

2 points each for a draw, 3 points for a win, and that final point comes down to the final winning margin ie if a team losses by 1-12 then they get the point, but if a team wins by 13+ then they get the point.

So a team could lose 22 game by 1 point, win 2 by 50+ and finish in the top 4. Awesome.
Could we implement this system now? Parra may win the minor premiership yet.

Maths is obviously your strong point. You could get a gig as an accountant.

i see where some of you are coming from but i just dont see how you can believe its a stupid idea. maybe not everyone fully gets it, it is quite complex compared to the current system. maybe once its fully understood i think more people woudl fully come on board with it.

it's on par with 3 point tries from kicks, completely moronic.

There is no way you can explain this idea that would get me on board. It makes no sense whatsoever. What's the point of winning if all you need to do is win big a couple of times to make the 8?
