So; we face the might of Melbourne. The best attack in the NRL. A host of Origin stars. A team who have just demolished their last two opponents. Do we have a chance of beating them and winning the most unexpected of premierships? I say YES.
Firstly, Melbourne's run-in has been relatively easy. They flogged the Warriors; they flogged a badly depleted Newcastle; they flogged Brisbane without their inform Origin half-back. They flogged Manly without Jamie Lyons and with a sadly out of form Brett Stewart. At least two of those games have been home games for Melbourne, I think. None of them were sudden death. This will be sudden death on a neutral ground.
Parramatta have beaten Saints, Canterbury, Titans, in recent weeks - all hard games, all sudden death. Our preparation is better. Come Sunday - win lose or draw - Melbourne are not going to know what hit them when they face us. We have better attack and better resolve than the teams Melbourne have faced recently; and FAR better defence.
Melbourne have been in three Grand Finals and only won one. They themselves might be wondering whether or not they are chokers. I'm wondering. Melbourne seem to have peaked at the right time, but I think Parra have a touch more improvement left in attack - especially from Mateo and Inu. Robson gets better every match. Same with Mannah.
I big danger is if Melbourne go to a big lead early. If we are within ten points of them at half-time, it's anybody's game. If we happen to be leading at the break - we WILL win.
I think, of all the teams in the finals, Parramatta are the one team that Melbourne would have chosen not to play. We will be VERY dangerous to them. They will be tested like they haven't been tested for a long, long time. GO PARRAMATTA.
