This hasn't been a decade for wingers. In the 90s we had guys like Hancock, Sailor, Wishart, Nagas, Nadruku, Rogers, Dallas, Albert, Hoppa (cough) etc

Hard to find many standouts this decade. Sing has to be one, he left after 2005 but was great at club and rep level. I would probabaly say Tahu for the other even though he defected.

The best for the decade in no particular order: Matt Sing, Lote Tuqiri, Hazem El Masri, Matt King, Francis Meli, Timana Tahu, Israel Folau and Nathan Blacklock.

Matt Sing would be in a Roosters and Cowboys team of the decade hypothetically while the other I would probably go with Israel Folau despite only being around for a few years.

He can play both but most of his football at the Broncos, QLD and Aus has been on the wing...he is versatile enough to play centre but so be it. The best wingers imo can play other positions nowadays.

It hasn't been the best decade for wingers. Many have emerged for a season or two, then slumped back down again. I went with Hayne and Blacklock, they are 2 guys who get you out of your seat whenever they touch the ball. Blacklock is probably my all time favourite player, he was an absolute freak.

He's played mostly centre for the storm and broncos but winger for rep games.

A lot of them have moved to other positions as well. Minichiello became one of the best fullbacks of the decade, Tahu went to the centres as with many, Rogers in the halves...others like Luke Rooney benefitted from having a great centres like Ryan Girdler as his centre partner as soon as he left that was it.

Which means he is eligible right? he only played in the centres for the Broncos when Hodges was injured and when they finally realised Michaels was a waste of space. IMO he is better than the others on the list.

It's a sad trend that is getting more and more common. Nearly every gun winger that bursts onto the scene is quickly shifted into the centres so they can get more ball.

To be fair most wingers bursting onto the scene are centres from the lower grades anyway, once they hit their straps they move in and some other young guy fills the wing position. It means wingers coming into grade have a better skill set but there are less specialist wingers.

Also, I know he's played fullback and centre, but Luke Burt cut his teeth in grade as a winger and has a formidable club record. He hasn't played rep footy, but I would say he'd at least be a contender.

:sarcasm:

But in all seriousness Vatuvei and Grothe get my votes. Sing had an amazing try-scoring record and was defensively great but these two monsters were great to watch and very devastating.

Marcus Bai and Matt Sing. Although all of the above wingers have had more than one game where u would think they are the best to ever play. Marcus Bai and Matt Sing are my choices, and im a bulldogs fan, and hazem is my favourite player of all time.

How the hell does Hayne make it on this list? 1 decent season (06) on the wing qualifies him?

Needs more Manu Vatuvei.
