1-Hayne After last year he picks himself
2-Lawrence Big strong and fast well overdue for a blues jersey
3-jennings The future the nsw backline has all the ability a centre should
4-Cooper Great defence and played a great game against cowboys looked like cooper in his prime
5-B Morris Best winger nsw have
6-Soward His speed and kicking game will be really handy
7-Pearce He is in great form and this year looks like he is more mature than previous years
8-Weyman
9-Ennis I think his style of footy will benefit the blues rather than farah
10-Hindmarsh You know hindnmarsh will show up and give his all and could also be captain
11-watmough same reason as hayne
12-Creagh One of nsw best player last year
13-Gallen Love his style of footy for origin level

14-Learoyd lahrs

Creagh shouldn't be in the team.

He does 80% of his hit ups out wide running at small backs. When you have someone as good as Jennings playing at left centre Ben Creagh just gets in the way.

Last year Creagh prevented Jennings from getting a lot of ball out wide when there was an opportunity because he would insert himself between Jennings and Barrett/Campese and do his typical run straight at a back routine. The QLD back line is too big and strong defensively for this to be effective.

if you want any chance at containing inglis, NSW need jamie lyon to be one of the centres.

he's taken over from cooper as the best defensive centre in the game and can attack and put people through gaps like the best of them.

g stewart looks to be hitting his straps again too

Yeah Glenn Stewart has been really impressive this year. He's probably the best play making forward in the game right now.

 Cooper > Lyon?

I know people dislike Lyon and love Coops but .

If i was in the nsw side and i had the choice to play next to coops or lyon i would definatly choose cooper his bigger faster, stronger and you know his one of those passionate players that will give 100% when representing his state . Lyon had his chance last year and he did f**k all. and if he cooper dosent get selested he would be filthy with himself while if lyon dosent get selected i dont think he would care as much as cooper

re NSW

My take on it is this.

There are few positions that are nailed down, but the players that SHOULD be there, no matter what are:-

Hayne, Morris, Morris & Jennings in the backs. I would imagine they need a winger, so the choice is a Lawrence type speedster out wide or a Tahu type big bugger with experience. I would bet the 2nd over the first.

The halves are anyones guess.

The forwards should include Ennis, G Stewart, Watmough, Lehroyd-Lars & Creagh

So you need to add, two specialist props and then theres the bench. You'd probably add a prop, two second rowers and a utility.

Hayne
Morris
Jennings
Morris
Tahu?
(Insert Half)
(Insert Half)
Ennis
(Insert prop)
(Insert prop)
Creagh
Watmough
O'Donnell

Lehroyd-Lars or specialist prop
Waterhouse / G Stewart depending on injuries
Luke Lewis / Greg Bird depending on injuries
Gidley/Soward/Farah

Now I hate to include Gidley, but he's probably going to get the nod as he's someones poster boy. A jack of all trades and master of none as far as I'm concerned, but that does mean he can cover a range of positions albeit none of them as well as the first choice bloke. In the absence of Craig Wing, he's probably in.

Our halves and our props as always are our biggest concerns. Michael Weyman, Justin Poore and Brett White? Is that it for NSW? Someone help me out here. If Greg Bird is a five eighth, then I'm a fashion model. The guy can cover the position defensively if we have a super dominant half back in the Scott Prince mold, but we dont, so he's a lock. We have 4 or 5 blokes who arent as good as the blokes Queensland have in the halves. If Cooper Cronk was from NSW he'd sh*t it in. As it is, he cant even make the QLD team. Our first best isnt even as good as their 3rd or 4th best.

We have Kimmorley, Soward, Carney, Campese, Pearce...... hhhmmm.

I'd be seriously tempted to put Campese and Carney together as Campese has skills and size and compliments Carney's speed and ability well. The fact they're both young and can hang around some is another plus. I'd also be seriously tempted to have Soward and not Gidley as the utility. I reckon he'd run amok late on in each half coming in fresh. Yes it would mean taking off Carney or Campese or even running Campese at lock for short bursts, but that combination would be NSW's best chance. Either that or Robbie Farah to take over from Ennis but Ennis can play 80 so maybe a waste.

Whatever we do, Jennings and Morris have to be the centres. Cooper and Lyon? No thanks.

As always, far too many 2nd rowers, no ultra dominant halves and light on props in the Petro Hannant mold. If Pearce is picked I f**king give up, I really do. The kid aint ready.

Everyone picking Carney in the halves for the origin team.... aint going to happen. Laurie Daley has said himself on fox that selectors wont consider choosing Carney in such an important position as half or 5/8 when he isn't even playing that position for the Roosters.

So he will either have to be picked at fullback ahead of Hayne or settle for a bench spot.

Yet they did consider Gidley for the halves when he was fullback?

Who knows what the selectors will do.

Difference is that Carney has been out of the game for a while and hasn't played that position in a long time. Gidley slots into 6,7,9 many times and at all different levels throughout the season.

To be fair, Carney has been doing the same thing for the Roosters this year. The only difference is Gidley has been doing it for longer.

I think it has been proven that club combinations are very importanat at Origin level too, so if the Roosters pick themselves back up and start firing again I would be happy to have:

6. Carney
7. Pearce
