One of my favourite days of the year. As a former Steelers supporter I think its great that our club is able to set aside one game each year in which we can acknowledge the contribution that the Illawarra Steelers have made to this merger especially in terms of some of the great Illawarra juniors that have been produced in this time. And at the same time it provides all of us St George Illawarra fans the opportunity to show how far we have come in the last 10 years and how we are all proud of the club we support no matter which side of the merger we came from.

So get out to WIN stadium this Friday night and support our club, the St George Illawarra Dragons. Ill be there in my Steelers jersey which I pull out this game every year as i'm sure many will as well. Lets smash those donkeys.

FIRE UP DRAGONS!!!

And they will wheel out the spectacular steelers side who's solitary claim to fame was to win a preseason competition trophy. Absolutely riviting stuff. The success and nostalgia they bring to the merge makes me so excited a little bit of wee wee comes out.

I love how certain factions of your club (such as yourself, The Major) spend so much time bagging out the side of the merger which supplies the bulk of the "bred" players for the club

^ exactly. The gong has always been strong RL teritory, but the Steelers were only around 17 years, didn't win anything of note and were virging on bankrupcy... not much to get excited over. St George has a more ilustrious history with regards to players from the Gong.

Glad they are back as part of St George again... only those pesky sharks to get rid of...

When compared with "certain factions" of your club's supporters ours are saints. :D Ever heard the saying "don't throw stones in glass houses"?

I thought Canberra was the heritage game?I think Brisbane was the heritage game back in 2006.

I agree. Does anyone remember when in 05 before we played Brisbane they played this song before the game - the day the steelers almost beat the broncos or some rubbish

I disagree. History and nostalgia need not be about success alone. Virtually all (expect the 88 Panasonic Cup) of my own childhood memories of the Dragons are of near misses or even total failures. Should I be forbidden from reminiscing? I'd love to see a team of St George greats from the 80's and 90's assembled and celebrated
