And some fan I am, Many of my family who follow and have loved Parramatta for years are saying the same. Why should we have if we don't treat him right, It's obvious he and DA don't get along or something along those lines.

I'd like to see you people in a players position knowing he has talent but is constantly criticised by fans and maybe the coach for all we know. It's not easy and Yeh I'm probably a bigger fan then you are, Just because I'd want him to tear us apart is to show and prove to the club and coaching staff how good he is. I'm entitled to my opinion and your entitled to yours. So maybe you should grow up.

Well judging from your syntax you're about 14, so I'll take it a little easier on you kiddo...did you perhaps think hard enough with that tiny little afterthought you call a brain, that the reason we criticise Mateo is because we know what he can do and we want him to do it rather than bludging out on the fringes and generally being invisible? Or does your little teen crush on the guy blind you to the fact that we all actually support him and want him to succeed, which is why his attitude and general laziness cops such a bollocking around here? He could be a star if he bothered to play footy and until he does bother, he will continue to be criticised and rightly so...

Both better options than Inu, which was the point of the post, clearly. Inu misses out because he plays in the backline, where we have plenty of depth. Robson and MK get a run because we have little depth at halfback/hooker...understand?

What I find funny is that when theres rougly 15-20 to go and we need tries he is brought back on and always pops him arm free to throw that pass and when he throws it and it doesn't come off everyone is on his back.

Yeh I agree Mateo is lazy but so is the majority of the team so why don't you jump on there back because there are many other talented players like Mateo who cop no where near as much sh*t as him.

If you were a bigger fan you would realise the club is bigger than any one player. You sound more like a Mateo fan than a Parra one. I know what you're getting at but the limit to what Ando and Ossie will offer him he has brought upon himself, got nothing to do with salary caps. He has shown he has bucketloads of potential, but he hasn't shown any desire to do anything then be a hologram, all show, no substance. Regardless of whether this is true or not, appearances mean a lot in a sport where being the big dog goes a long way to winning games

Calm down. I understand your peanut brain has gone into overdrive but no need for it to implode so qiuckly. All I am saying is a player like Inu should be squeezed into the squad somewhere somehow. A case can easily be made for Inu added into the backline considering some of the performances there of late. Then again, you have been stuck in the old ways for too long to accept new changes are needed. Its a shame young future players like Inu might go to other clubs yet we hang on to players on the verge of retirement. Case closed.

Mateo deserves every critisism coming his way ATM, we all know how good he could be but for whatever reason he just isn't finding it here at Parra. Making excuses for him and blaming the coach are a cop out. People on here are bucketing someone like Robson who wouldn't be on a quarter of what Mateo's on but has outplayed him all season.

what's going on here.. there is so much hate. I think there were some improvements last night with the change in the halves. I would give KK and DM a couple more games before looking at other options. The one thing that does worry me about the current two is their size, that is one reason why I would give FM a run... Again though if fitness is an issue then what's the point.

why all the anger today....everyone is entitled to an opinion and i agree that mateo may not be in the best form but for people to be saying that he is not putting in effort is a joke,he along with the rest of the team are professional footballers.There are people on this forum just love to pick on individual players,last Week people wanted tahu back at wenty for godsake...last night tahu touched the ball twice and looked brillant why? because he has unbelievable talent...i put mateo in the same category thats why i would have him in my team every week..
i can not understand why we continue to attack down our right hand side with reddt,smith and grothe,where imo (if im alolowed) all the class is on the left hand side.

Look, I for one think Mateo has copped it a bit to harshly, but whats being said about him isnt wrong. He is being lazy and he is showing the wrong attitude.

But the coach is being equally stubborn.

Gus said last week that you set your team structure to create the opportunities for your star players to really shine. I dont think we are doing that for Mateo (nor any of our stars). I think we are expecting Mateo to turn into a SBW type player in the back row but he really is more like John Sutton. We have had him in the back row for long periods over the last 3 years and he hasnt taken to the position yet. Im willing to call it a failure.

So why not in a few weeks put him at five eight if Morts doesnt fire? Mateo closer to the edges where he can link with our backline better. He could do that now but its difficult when he is the 4th string play maker in the side.

It's funny how all you people criticise Mateo and then when he does something brilliant like he can you's will support him again. I honestly hope he leaves Parramatta and goes to a side that will treat him the right way and I hope he comes back to Parra one day and tears us apart just to prove to you people and DA that he really is a talent.

Really disappointing IMO.

The problem is everyone who has followed his career knows he is a talent his problem is he is lazy and out of form. I have watched him for many yrs I even saw him lay during his spell at the london broncos. He isn't a 18yr old with promise anymore he is 25 and has played enough games now to start being consistent

5/8s play 80 minutes, which at Mateos current fitness he would never get through a half let alone 80.

Once he gets his old fitness back in all for Mateo at 5/8.

well said there pete,after reading some of these threads i find it funny how so many people are putting the boot into so many players. yes i know in the past i have said robbo isnt a half but that was stating the obvious. i was impressed with his game last nite at hooker though. the boys will turn it around,be patient everyone.
