When the Draw was released would any of you thought the Saints would be outright 1st after round 5?

The played all 4 Semi Finals teams from last season, and the team that finished 3rd in the comp and have only lost 1 game.

Absolute superb effort. The boys should really be proud of what they have achieved. Especially with the amount of injuries they have also had in teh opening weeks.

Long road ahead but good steps taken to ensure they get another chance to win the title.

When the draw was released, the Melbourne game in Melbourne was the one that stood out as a problem.

It's a nice but I doubt the players will see it as an achievement yet. Signs are good, though, and there's no doubt they've improved as a team compared to this time last year. If that trend continues we'll be in good shape

In fairness to Slippery, he is referring to the first five rounds.

Only two rounds away. Anything could happen. I suspect the Sharks are just happy to able to field a team.

- Yeah I agree its a nice start to the season, not playing mind-blowing footy, but getting some early points (even with a lot of injuries), and we're playing fairly disciplined.

- Hopefully that's a base we can work from, yes obviously its nothing to do with finals footy, but what would you say if we were currently '1 from 5' instead of '4 from 5'?

- Origin is our next challenge, Finals isnt even on the radar.

I wouldnt worry too much about Origin, based on all the forums and what the media say, there will only be 3-4 Dragons players in the origin teams max.
Boyd, B Moz, Weyman and Creagh. (and Creagh is no certainty apparently...)
Apparently the rest of the team arent worthy of mentioning.
Not with the likes of Pearce, Carney, Gidley, Tahu, Bird, Minicello etc... all being so awesome and in form... (Carney and Pearce going well but see how they go this Sunday against a decent team that can defend)
Having a 5-1 record and beating all other top teams apparently means little to selectors.

(If you cant tell I am being sarcastic/bitter above. Whilst I dont like to see the Dragons depleted, there are some blokes who deserve a rep shot but just cant seem to get one. Scott, Soward, Hunt, Young, Cooper, Hornby (although he retired), and Prior should all be in the mix, but are getting very few wraps from the media.)

I'm not convinced Boyd will get a start for QLD.
He plays ok at the moment, but QLD has a wealth of talent in the backs and he may not be needed.

Good news for Dragons!

Creagh will most likely get selected if he dosen't ill put it down to the way he ran like a school girl when hodges approached him.
I dont care what the coach has told him to, you never let someone (let alone Hodges) put you on show like that, esspecially in origin for f**ks sake...

Lets put it this way - Is Boyd playing well enough to get a start ahead of Slater?
His defence is rock solid, but he doesnt really have the attacking prowess of most NRL fullbacks.

He'll probably end up on the wing again
