- The birth of my son

- Watching my sister die

- Tigers winning the GF in 05.

Probably the three biggest things in my life to date.

Reminds me... AC/DCs tour of Australia a few years ago.

Best... concert... ever !

Ever.

Ahh yes the stiff upper lip tour. They had the living end backing them up. What a great gig that was.

I remember the giant smashing ball came out and Brian Johnson tried to jump on it and he fell onto his arse haha.

Yeah the atmosphere at that Preliminary final was awesome.

A couple more to add to my list:

- Socceroos vs U-are-gay World Cup Qualifier - bext event I've ever been too.

- Creed concert in Melbourne 2002, one of their last ever.

Another one...

My sister getting hit by a car. I was 5, she was 9.

It was a hit & run. Remember running up the street where everyone was hysterical, my other sister balling her eyes out. Don't rmember much but I remember seeing her lying on the ground in shock with blood all over her face telling her " You shouldn't have jumped in front of the car ! "

Looking back on it... can't believe people let me see that. But it all happened very fast & everyone was hyterical (plus it was in Macquarie Fields... scum don't know any better). Only found out last year my brother went hunting for the guy straight after it happened. Til police stopped him.

Impacted greatly on my families lifestyle, & who my friend were in the future. Got a pay out. Moved to Liverpool from '94-'00, went to primary school there. Went to highschool in Campbelltown, moving here at the end of '00. Wouldn't have the friends I have now hadn't she got hit.

As sick & selfish as it sounds... if there's one positive to come out of it is my family is no longer stuck in that sh*thole. Who know what kind of a person I'd be there.

But I'd gladly live there again if it meant my sister could still walk & have normal brain function.

It's funny... this is the most I've ever discussed this. And I only now it makes me sad. I don't think I've fully appreciated how big this event was. I guess because it happened when I was so young it's just the way things are to me.

Nikki if you don't mind me asking. Your dad doesn't sound like a very nice guy. But my question is how the f**k did you survive being dragged between by a train??

Thankful some random bloke grabbed my arms. The train wasnt going very fast as we were just pulling into the station. I guess he lets go and I was gone... My legs got pretty scratched up tho.. And my baby-sitter still took me to the zoo. Needless to say, I have never been back there either.

I now have a new one to add to the list...

- 15/9/07 ~ Kickin the Dirty Dogs outta the Finals!!! Treated the day like a Grand Final really, but to have all three grades of my boys go through was phenominal!!!

This thread is a good read in more ways than one.
This thread is worth a bump to see how things have changed in almost three years.

Things I will never forget:

Nearly drowning in a resort pool because I jumped in to 'rescue' my favourite toy.

Being asked by my parents when I was about 3 "do you want a little brother?" and excitedly responding yes.

Dad explaining to me what my little brother meant after Mum had delivered.

Being told I had won a scholarship to my highschool, and my two best mates telling me not to accept it because they thought it meant I'd be separated from them.

3-4 years ago, sitting for two hours straight on our driveway patting my dog. Something made me do it that I cant explain, and later that week she had to be put down. I consider myself extremely lucky that this is the only instance of a close death I have had to experience.

Hearing that the Storm had cheated. It doesn't affect me, but I will always remember the car trip home from work as dad was explaining it to me.

Best moment - Getting absolutely sh*tfaced at a mates sisters 21st and ending up with her at the end of the night. f**k me that was a good night...

Worst moment - Getting up on stage to accept an award i didnt even win...I dead set thought i heard my name...

* Accepting an award I did win, then nearly falling down the stage stairs in front of 700+ people. I was on crutches because my mate squashed my foot playing... of all things... yes, kill me... AFL. the day before.

Last year.
* Running out of the big hall doors during PE, violently colliding with a mate running the other way (big pivoting doors, neither of us saw each other), and biting cleanly through my tongue. I didnt bite it off, I just gave it a massive piercing with my teeth :(

Afterwards, Dad spending 10 minutes talking to people he knew in the office, while I'm sitting with a bucket of blood in front of me trying not to spill it everywhere.

Trying to eat (mashed) strawberries while watching the cricket the next day. Something in the strawberries made it so painful I vomited, which was more painful.

Ending up repeatedly vomiting mashed foods everywhere. Getting to school on the Monday to find out the other bloke was fine except for a small bruise behind his ear :fist:

Funny you mention the tongue-biting thing... I heard a story on the radio yesterday about a bloke who allegedly sliced his penis off accidentally when putting the toilet seat down :|

WORST:

- Bit of a long one. I'd just been at the gym, and rushed home to grab my gear for footy training. Came in the house and mum told me my little brother(15 years old) had something to tell me and I said I didn't have time, but mum said it was pretty important. So I said fine but make it quick. Of course my little brother(who takes an hour to tell a story with every minute detail included) rambled on for about 30 seconds about what he'd done that morning and I cut him short, "can you hurry up, I'm late". Then he said "the doctor says I have cancer". It hit me like a smack in the face but I didn't really know how to react at first. I asked mum to explain it to me and she said it was an aggressive type B lymphoma behind his eye and he started chemo in four days.
I drove to training with no radio on in my car(which I never do) in silence, then when I got to the ground I parked the car and just sat there for about an hour, not able to cry(never been much of one), but everything inside me was crying. I will never forget wondering what was wrong with me that I couldn't cry. I did eventually, but it was a couple of months later.

- When my best friend told me his family was moving to Melbourne at the end of year 10. We were the tightest friends you could imagine, and I'll never have anything like that again.

- A couple of other things that are probably a bit too personal.

BEST:

- A couple of kisses come to mind, even though in hindsight some of them were bittersweet.

- Big Day Out this year in Sydney. I went with my aforementioned friend from Melbourne and a few of his mates I'd only met the night before. The day was f**king awesome, and by the end of it it felt like I'd been lifelong friends with all of them, just a great bunch of guys. At the end of the day, going into the last act which was Groove Armada in the Boiler Room, we all decided to see if we could pickup on the dancefloor. I did, and 4 months on am still with the girl and couldn't be happier. 40,000 people there that day and we met, not sure whether it was the luckiest moment of my life or fate.

- An ex who crushed me begging me back, and me telling her to shove it. So satisfying...

- Champagne breakfast on the last day of school with everyone in the year at a park in Milsons Point. Then walking across the Harbour Bridge to school and sitting in the final assembly drunk as a skunk. Someone threw up

- A couple of heroic sporting memories. Starring me of course.

- When my brother beat cancer, and life turning back to normality.

GOOD
- When I first met my girlfriend, and the day I moved in with her. There are a lot of days I can remember that someone said or somewhere we went. Not to be cliche, but every day with her is special. Memories like first kiss, first date, things I'll never forget.
- The Footy Show Quiz. Sort of a downer peroid at the time, it gave me something to work towards I guess. Was great fun too.
- My dad taking me to my first concert when I was eight. Alice Cooper.
- The 2002 Grand Final.
- Scoring my highest bowling score...against the team including my mother and sister.
- Big Day Out this year with my girlfriend and my best mate. First time I've ever went. Waiting 45 mins just to be at the front when Mastodon plays.

BAD
- Yesterday...
- Watching my Grandfather die in 2005, and my Aunt die in 2009. Plus the phone call to tell me my uncle died in 2006. Watching Grandma battle with dementia and seeing her everytime I visit in the state she's in, gets me.
- When the parents split in 1999.
- My cat just moments ago sh*tting on the floor near me.
- 2003 and 2004 Grand Finals. Add 2009 in there.

All I can think of lol.

I could have been playing professional football (or soccer as you will). I was invited into the Academy and had big ambitions. People saw "it" in me. And it was all crushed by an illegal play - the merkin who ruined my dreams kicked me right in the eye. The Academy lost interest in "damaged goods" and I spiralled into depression because my lifelong dream of playing pro football had been smashed, and all because of a blatantly illegal play I had no bearing over. I will never forget how worthless I was made to feel that day, and I sincerely hope nobody goes through that.
