Picking Gordon over Merritt is nothing short of revolting and the worst origin selection decision i have heard in quite a while.

Gordon has made the least line-breaks out of any winger in the NRL this year that has played 10+ games. He has only scored 7 tries which is nothing to brag about. Oh wow he goal kicks, big deal. The whole Penrith connection thing is a massive fraud when you look at it in rep level and it will have no dividend at all.

Gordon is in the bottom band of wingers in the NRL.

Nathan Merritt has a average yearly try-scoring record of 17.7, ever since he rise to fame in 2006, he has been the most consistent winger in the competition over a number of seasons and is always up with the top try-scorers.

This is to see who else is gutsy enough to pick Gordon over Merritt because it would be an extremely ugly call.

Merritt offers alot more on attack. Is one of the best support players and kick chasers in the game. He would be lethal running off pearce for linebreaks.

LMFAO. Michael Gordon without a doubt. He's one of the most complete and consistent wingers in the competition and is a specialist right side player.

This is one of the few times that the selectors got a decision right. Nathan Merritt would have been another Steve Turner.

Quinn, McManus, Monaghan, Wolfman, Turner, now Gordon. f**k, you think Merrit could do any worse?

Not sold on either, and I'm a Gordon fan. Hoping for the best with what we have. Uate will probably replace whoever it ended up being once he is eligible anyway. So relax.

Merritt clearly deserves the shot.

Heck, you could swap Gidley for Merritt and use Merrit in a Bowen manner out of dummy half.

Gordon - flat decision. What exactly superior qualities does he bring?

Considering NSW is in such a dire predicament - I would have considered the rookie Barba for the wing or bench spot instead of Gidley. How exactly will structured play defeat Qld dominance? Bird and Lewis is a step in the right direction for you guys at least.

Neither are as good as Darius Boyd. But defensively I would go Gordon but Gordon can be rather slow to turn and chase and I see a weakness in our back 3 the gap in behind Gordon and Hayne will be exposed badly unless they play out of their skins.

Nathan Merritt had 3 tries let in down his wing last week and another that was dropped with the line wide open.

Gordon - flat decision. What exactly superior qualities does he bring? - goal kicking is the first that comes to mind. he's also a quality winger in his own right.

Considering NSW is in such a dire predicament - I would have considered the rookie Barba - surely you jest for the wing or bench spot instead of Gidley. How exactly will structured play defeat Qld dominance? Bird is a step in the right direction for you guys at least.

I would pick Kevin Gordon over both of them.

I class James McManus, Michael Robertson, Luke Burt, Anthony Quinn, Steve Turner, Nathan Merritt, Michael Gordon, Isaac Gordon, Beau Ryan all in the similar class of player - all good club players (albeit at varying levels of course), but I have doubts that any of them have that x-factor to succeed at the 'next level', whether due to lack of size, linebreaking ability, tackle busting, aerial dominance, or a combination of the lot. The same applies to Nightingale and Perrett too, but obviously with NZ's more shallow depth, they are considered for representative footy.

NSW need to look at players with raw talent - guys like Kevin Gordon and Blake Ferguson might not have had the BEST years in terms of form, but they have the physiques, pace and finishing ability, as well as youth on their side, to eventually develop into valuable assets for the NSW team. This is similar to Broncos wingers Winterstein and Yow Yeh - prototype wingers.

I'd be happy with either. Both great finishers... but Gordon offers that little bit more size when it comes to defence. I really feel there's a miiscule difference between the two of them.
