Why oh why lord was Mateo taken off. He was ripping them apart. DA.... goodbye and good riddance. You cost us not only the game but the season. With all the skill and potential our team has, this coach could not do anything with them. Now its sudden death footy for us. Now its up to the players, ( Not the coach ) that will save us. I have not given up. We can make it.

Mateo was brilliant, and he was taken off for a breather because Anderson was confident our boys would go on with it and grind it out.....obviously didn't happen that way did it? Can't blame the coach for our entire team deciding to play lazy the second half.....but I can't blame the players either for defending pretty much the entire second half. Who's fault is it? I don't think we will ever know....

If someone says "punt Mortimer for costing us the game" I will seriously blow up someone's house.....

Ando seems to have a very poor ability to keep the boys motivated after a good 1st half. Remember the dogs game? We hammered them in the first half and nearly lost the game in the 2nd and same with this game, we were doing excellently, strong defense, halves were taking control, forwards were going good, no stupid penalties and Hayne looking as dangerous as ever. 2nd half, we're stuck on our own goal line for just about the entire 2nd half, there was absolutely NO pressure on the titans' halves, the amount of times Prince, Rogers and Campbell were allowed to just run everywhere was ridiculous. I thought the knights and the roosters game was our worst this season, but this tops the list because we literally, LITERALLY just threw it away. It pisses me off that we had every chance and hope to keep a finals appearance alive and the entire team goes and lets themselves down with the worst 2nd half performance of the season. I'm absolutely filthy about this match so much so that I won't even bother going on about the ass quality refereeing.

I think in actual fairness with the Titans game that the Titans had alot of things go there way in the first 20 minutes of the first half and once they got momentum they just blew us away.... I think the fact that in the end we just capitulated probably stems from a much deeper problem with the whole side and goes to wondering why our whole season has just been dreadful.

We could potentially win every game and will probably run 8th...but I dont think the Dragons are going to make the same mistake twice and let us get under their guard in week one of the finals....we're finished for 2010.... As I said in my opening post.... a team that gets beaten twice by Cronulla in a season doesnt really deserve to make the finals anyway.

Mateo at 5/8 would not have made a difference. As chipmunk said the first 20 minutes of the second half all the luck was with Titans

Wait a minute - so a guy who only pulled his finger out and started playing well after he signed with another team (almost as if it were his attempt at at "F U - see what you are missing out on!" to the coach) should be labelled our messiah?

No.

They had the ball for 9 sets of six in a row across a 12 minute span (and scored 2 tries). We then had a set of 6, then they had 4 more sets of six in a row across 5 minutes (and scored again).

Mateo could've ripped up whatever he wanted, but when you have the ball once in an 18 minute period, you lose. (For the record he didn't score a try, create a try or even break the line - a bit rich to suggest it was his best EVER game)

Max is putting his point across. Who are you to tell him to piss off?
This is the very reason why people dont frequent these forums as much.
Idiot!
Settle down champ, this bloke only comes on here when we lose to spout the same BS. He was nowhere to be seen when we won 3 in a row. Rightly or wrongly he has it in for Ando but the same crap after each loss is getting a bit much to take.

When Mateo and Cayless come off, our game changes. They are our two ball playing forwards and the replacements that come on around that time - Mannah, Poore and Horo - are more pure runners.

Our dynamic did change last night and it possibly cost us the game.

So having said that HJ, would we be better off starting Caylo from the bench and starting with Poore, Mannah or Horo?

This is just my opinion but I am seriously thinking that it wouldnt matter who our coach is or who we sign or let go, we have developed a bad culture of being mentally soft. We cannot get ourselves up for important matches and when we are seen to be favourites we crumble. Im not sure what will fix it but i do know that aside from some horrendous refs decisions and some things that didnt go our way, a tougher mental side would of put up more fight than we did. EVEN if by some miracle we were to make the 8 (which I do not believe we will now) we would capitulate at some time anyway. Its really quite depressing.

Lol, righto...ignoring the hypocrisy here, Max is a troll. He's got one point that he brings up four, five, six times a week and more on Wednesdays. He does it to get reactions, not through any real sentiment towards the club. Much like that Haynetrain twat, who calls himself an Eels fan but hates every player bar Hayne. Normal rules do not apply...I'm with Hiney, wish the irritating little prick would piss right back off the bandwagon

You are a total fool, blame the coach when he is up in the coachs box for the 80mins, its the players fault 100% they are not making an effort, The game plan looks like lets rely on Hayne. Theres no way in the world this is DAs fault the players need to show some heart and send Cayless off the way he should be sent off, HOLDING THE F**KING TROPHY

Man some people just don't get it. Our major weakness is the halves. fix this and u have got a premiereship winning team.

My favourite player is The Chosen One.... not Mateo. But it's Mateo who belongs in 5/8th. It's my opinion and I respect everyone elses opinions against it.

But I have argued and argued time after time for Mateo to play 5/8th. Clearly our present halves and our failed past halves have not worked for us all year. Everyone has had their say. Why not try Mateo now in 5/8th. We must win all 4 games to make it. We have nothing to lose especially with the present halves we got. Even if his leaving our club, use him while we got him.

Mateo 5/8th - attack structure.
Robson - team stability.

Its so obvoius its almost criminal to not let Mateo play 5/8th. Any coach would have tried this halves combo long ago yet DA won't even think about it. This is why I have been very critical of our coach. Maybe they dislike each other. Maybe one day DA will regret for not playing Mateo 5/8th when he lines up in centrelink looking for a new job.

+1
We do have a history of losing to teams that we should beat, which there is no excuse for, it's pathetic stuff from the players. They always go through the motions against crap teams, which is mentally weak.

I think our main problem in the last few years has all come from Hagan, he let the lunatics run the asylum. DA tried to change it when he come in but the damage was done, the team was full of players that just didn't respond to structure. I think DA is a good coach but this is the one point I think he seriously screwed up with.
He should've persisted with what he wanted to do and any player that couldn't cope should've been shown the door, his way or the highway. DA didn't do that though, he threw out his playbook and let the players play ad-lib footy, the lunatics were back in charge.

Sure we made the GF last year, and should've won it if the Storm weren't such cheating scum. The same footy wouldn't have kept on working though, it never does. You can go on a run playing ad-lib but to be a consistently successful team you need structure, you can still have some ad-lib, but just don't rely on it like Parra does.
We look like we are chasing a team, playing from behind, right from the start of a game. We could have a slight lead and need to settle the play down coming towards the end of a game but we still throw it around as if we're chasing.
The team is just brainless at times, which is also the fault of the halves, they need to step in and settle the team down and show some direction.

I saw some clown in the NRL forum saying Parra has a sh*t team, which is just plain wrong. On paper we have a one of the best backlines and one of the best forward packs, we are just bad in the halves. If we had average halves that could organise a little, show a bit of direction and have a half decent kicking game then we'd be sitting in the top 4 easily.
Swap our 6,7 and 9 with nearly any team in the top 4 and the teams would swap positions as well.

Of course I'm pointing out the obvious so it must be tripe according to some of the geniuses here. Hayne being bad at positioning was tripe too, it doesn't matter that he had Burt covering for him and holding his hand against the Titans. How many fullbacks need wingers to do their job for them?:sarcasm:
