As for Gorilla's bold statement, lets see if we can flesh it out:

First the law:

(a) Murder shall be taken to have been committed where the act of the accused, or thing by him or her omitted to be done, causing the death charged, was done or omitted with reckless indifference to human life, or with intent to kill or inflict grievous bodily harm upon some person, or done in an attempt to commit, or during or immediately after the commission, by the accused, or some accomplice with him or her, of a crime punishable by imprisonment for life or for 25 years.

Some facts known

Old mate died of a heart attack. Johnsy's mate the coroner has found that on a preliminary basis.

Source: radio news

The Police admit to multiple blows to the legs, I am not sure how many, so a question may be whether those blows could have hurt his heart.

Lets see what the experts say:

Heart attack also can occur due to problems with the very small, microscopic blood vessels of the heart. This condition is called microvascular disease. It’s believed to be more common in women than in men.

Another less common cause of heart attack is a severe spasm (tightening) of a coronary artery that cuts off blood flow through the artery. These spasms can occur in coronary arteries that don’t have CAD. It’s not always clear what causes a coronary artery spasm, but sometimes it can be related to:
  • Taking certain drugs, such as cocaine
  • Emotional stress or pain
  • Exposure to extreme cold
  • Cigarette smoking
source: http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/dci/Diseases/HeartAttack/HeartAttack_Causes.html

Link?

I see above that pain is a cause of heart attack. I imagine that multiple blows to the leg area are painful. He might also have suffered from acute emotional stress. He was in an upset state before the cops arrived, their arrival and conduct would have accellerated that.

So on the one-hand, Gorilla's submission may not seem so fanciful.

But the cops can maintain they had a cause, they can say that they were trying to be careful ( ie not reckless, not trying to committ a gbh, but followed the manual) and
besides all of that, werent in a position to make a judgment about his pre-existing heart condition. He may not have known of it.

The last thing the cops wanted was an actual death. Thats why they worked like dogs to save his life. Where was the intent to kill? So it might be reckless indifference or the gbh they would be looking at to charge the cops under.

And the case is way too big for a cover up, I imagine that everything will be squeaky clean in their investigations.

Anyway, Im not reaching a conclusion, just thinking about it. No doubt the cops on scene have been interviewed 100 times already. Under a lot of pressure Id say.
Ive heard they are going OK at the moment. But if they get charged, jeez....

You speak to ex-cops, a lot of them feel very let down by the Force. Theres a general feeling of bitterness about their ex-employer that you dont often find in other people.

Until its over everyone will be a mate, but if they are charged etc, then they may well be ex-communicated. Tough gig when coppering is not just a job, but a lifestyle.

Yeah mate a misunderstanding. Apologies.

Dave,

I am sure doing the job compared to sitting on the other side of the fence are two different worlds alltogether. Police attend many critical incidents, and from my experience all a cop wants to do is go to work, do their shift without incident and get home safely (inclusive of every single person they deal with on that shift). Some may question this sentiment, for those who do, speak with the wife or husband of a police officer.

People who sling ill-informed comments at the people who do this job, only show their ignorance. The best way to equate attending such an incident is the "ripple effect". There are no winners in any way shape or form.

Even with all your medical training & years of expertise, I'll still back the coroners judgement compared to a most obvious troll.

Try harder chump.

You too Johnsy, you must be about 13 years old as well.

Read above.

Did someone hear anything, all I heard was a chump grunting.

I'd actually prefer to see the hansard compared to an obviously biased publication, we wouldn't want anything to get in the way of the truth would we. Is this de javu? You are going to have to try harder to get a bite chump.

I look forward to another veiled comment, If you want to say something just come out and say it, no need for dancing around bushes.

Actually gorilla ignore the above, you sound like a 15 year old confused girl who beleives she's a lesbian who's latest craze is to fight for the womens right movement. Just f**k off & leave the adults to discuss things rationally son. BTW I had no idea angelo was at the leagues club.

Johnsy, if I wanted a bite I'd get one.

You're a one-shot reactionist, with a smattering of patchy veneer: hansard, medical training, etc - crapola.

You started the chumping and all you've done so far is bleat.

You're obviously not up to satire. I haven't made any veiled comment, you are the one reacting like a prig.

Douse yourself and get on with your next "learned judgement".

Reacting/getting a bite ? I think you may be giving yourself a tad too much credit. It was contempt, nothing more nothing less.

Considering we are talking about a young man who has died, i thought it would have been common sense to make a decision based on fact, not a one shot reaction. Read your 1st post you hypocrite.

Why is an opinion considered "learned judgement" is that a chip on your shoulder. A considered opinion does not always = a thorough education. It's more likely thought before reacting, one shot.

Maintain the rage sister. You have used the same quote three times to try and make a point, yet failed. You claim this is satire, Is actually satire is lost on you?, or is it you actually don't understand it.

BTW satire is overrated.

lol, you sad piece.

I realise now you're the one who rang up the ABC to complain about the Chasers' skits.

You don't even make sense, and yet you want to be a middle-class reasonable polemicist.

BTW, if I said "Cops killed Tasakos", you'd probably tried to tell me I'd spelt Bosevski wrong and then done your little-minded berating act, blah, blah, blah.

If you say so, I'll have to take your word for it. The chip on the shoulder rears it's ugly head once again.

Let me guess, some of that well used satire again?

BTW, you didn't. If, if, if, if. When you are resorting to what if's, it is time to hang the boots up.

Enjoy maintaining the rage sister.

Polemicist, WTF nothing controversal about what I have said so far, just that it appears my opinon appears to be opposite of yours.

TBH you may be an extremelly nice guy, but ATM you are coming across as nothing but a close minded spanker.

Enjoy the rest of your evening.

Like to name the 'chip', seeing as you say there's one ? I'd like to see you put some facts together for a change instead of cliche - I'm almost expecting you to tell me to 'give yourself an upper-cut, chump'.

All you've got to say is a grab-bag, next you'll be calling me sister for the 3rd time, which repetition you seem not to like.

It's simple Johnsy, three words got you all hot and righteous, when in fact you just don't get it.

You appear to be an intelligent man, time for some self reflection. It is right in front of you. For someone you have never met, reading some posts about a person who reserve a judgement about an incidnet he knows little about. You joined all the dots to come up with you're obviously well informed assessments above. Why stop now?

As I said last thread, enjoy your evening. I have an early start tomorrow.

Case closed then.

Looks like I started the gratuitous comments, hahahaha.

Get a good nights rest Johnsy, best wishes and let's catch up in 2011 as followers of Premiers.

Don't however think I've started anything, nor think I'll back off.

Were you at the club when this happened ?

Oh wake up !

It's got nothing to do with the actual event, I can't believe you've such a limited capacity for concept and lateral thinking.

I was at the club in the beer garden between 11 am and 10 pm when I went to Jubilee to see the team.

I tried to get in to the club at midnight but was turned away when I couldn't sneak in with the gangsters that Danny Robinson let in at a side entrance. The gangsters had fought with some other man at the ground after the Team presented the trophy.

What would it matter anyway, go to bed.
