The situations are not even compareable. FFS Luke Lewis did worse than Inglis. I don't like Inglis much, but unfortunately for him other factors out of his power have come into contention which obviously affected his intentions.
nice pick up.
A year from now it'll be "it was screwing dragons over which is okay" when he joins us.Gee how did I overlook that? Oh that's right, it was screwing easts over which is okay.
Must have missed that one, what did Luke Lewis do??
In 2008, the first year after the anti tampering deadline was removed. Luke Lewis had agreed to terms with Souths, the signing was announced and all, however Penrith realised there was a loophole meaning that no formal contract could be registered with the NRL until July 1st without that current club's position. So they upped their offer and Lewis stayed, as did Nathan Smith who agreed to terms to rejoin the Raiders. It's still how the rules work, why clubs are reluctant to formalise signings before July even now.
Pretty sure it wasnt that black and white. He agreed to terms with Souths while Penrith were going through a tough run. Penrith won a few games in a row when Lewis was moved to half, Souths had Wing on the sidelines and had a shocking start to the season, Penrith then matched or outdid Souths offer after initially not getting into a bidding war, and Lewis re-signed.
He said it was for his missus as her father was pretty sick at the time and didnt want to move too far away. Could have been true, but he must have got pretty sick in the few weeks in between.
Hope he's doing alright now.
Inglis said he'd sign. Shook hands.
But then it rained.
SBW walked out on a deal he had signed.
He then stated that there was no loyalty in sport. He wore the consequences.
So who was worse in your eyes?
Note: Sailor, Rogers, Blacklock, Tuqiri, Tahu , cutie and Folau left for another code but all saw out their contracts so are not included in this.
