THE NRL have pulled off one of the biggest advertising coups in Australian sports history by joining forces with global rock gods Bon Jovi for their 2011 campaign. The US rockers have agreed to licence their song This Is Our House exclusively to the NRL for the next three years.
See the official video of the song above
The first of the TV ads with the Bon Jovi tune will begin airing early next month.
League insiders predict the latest anthem to be even more successful than the classic What You Get Is What You See, made famous by Tina Turner in 1989.
Not only is the association with Bon Jovi an automatic triumph for the NRL, the title track is also a clear backhander to the AFL, who continue to threaten the Sydney and Queensland market.
Bon Jovi wooed millions of fans in December where he met South Sydney owner Russell Crowe and was presented a Wests Tigers jersey by skipper Robbie Farah.

"It is an exciting win for the game and a clear statement about the scale of year ahead,” NRL chief executive David Gallop said this afternoon.

What happend to pop music? Mate, if you own either a radio or a Foxtel box, you can listen to as much of the sh*t as you want. I know we're missing a massive chance to capture the teeny-bopper market though...

p.s. I'm a huge Bon Jovi fan, and that is honestly one of their worst songs. I'm struggling to think of a better one for use a league anthem, though. The title track off Bounce, perhaps. I do think Living In Sin would work very well as an AFL theme. :p

Our theme song should be something by Justin Bieber. I don't like his music but he has an army of obsessive teenage girl fans, they'd become fans.

The BBC had a series called Planet earth with a bloody good intro tune, sort of classic.

This is it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LH2Z_1-Frb8

And

ITV used to use Beautiful Day by U2 as the intro for their premier league highlights show, it was pretty good when clips and celebrations were rolled in.[/QUOTE}

Sigur Ros are awesome. so are Muse.

I've always thought Come and see the real thing would be cool for an NRL ad. Along the same lines as the classical music themes.

Im not really a bon jovi fan, and if that song was on the radio in its current form i probably wouldnt be interested in it at all. But... i think it will work really bloody well as the NRL theme once its been re-worked and edited with images of RL on screen.

well done to all involved in organising this

I reckon Hilltop Hoods nose bleed section wouldve of been better, they couldve rapped some NRLesc lyrics with it.

I'm a big fan too and agree, whilst alot of their songs wouldn't suit, I CAN see this working in an ad campaign

Let's be thankful they didn't use No Apologies, people HATE that song :D

Bon Jovi are hugely popular man, even people you wouldn't expect came out of the closet when the toured. Huge huge band.

I think it's a good thing, even though I haven't heard the song yet. Bon Jovi are huuuuuugeeeee..

If you aren't a fan, you probably won't like the song itself, but i'd wait to see the ad that goes with it.

You are right, it's awesome work by the NRL going out and getting such a big ticket group for the campaign

Twiz,

Bon Jovi are the number one touring band in the world at the moment. Yes, they were big in the 80's but their greatest hits album wnet straight to number one.

Chicks love Bon Jovi, win them over and the battles won.

Not a big fan myself and I'd have used ramstien or something similar, but they are a known band around the world.

Well done NRL even if the songs crap.

Disspointing from Bon Jovi, probably one their sh*ttier songs.

Also f**k muse, it'd be the best way to alienate the non-genius/emo RL fans.
