i dont see too many players leaving. you will lose more people due to salary cap rather than bennett effect. it seems price has the respect of the playing group and should do well.

I can see Boyd and Emmett following him back to Brisbane. We should get first shot at the off contract players. An unwanted forward of two will probably follow him as well.

The question you have to ask is what will his new team require. The most likely destination is the Broncos and if that's the case then what they'll obviously need is a 5/8.


Looking at the Broncos squad, they have great depth as always. Their issue is experience. Especially in the backline. Apart from Hodges, the rest are young. Also there is a need for a dominant playmaker.


So looking at what is available for him to take, there isn't much that will fit. Darius for Lockyer seems to be a perfect fit so that will most probably happen. Dominant playmaker will need to be Wallace. Front rowers, they have plenty. Another guy that would make sense is Cooper who would give that added experience out wide. However, Cooper has too much invested in the club and NSW to leave. The only other guy is Emmett. He has good utility value and dependable. Bennett is an obvious fan and will give him a spot if he wants to return to QLD.


I don't think Bennett will make a play for players. If Stanley or Bosden leave, its because they want to follow Bennett. I seriously doubt Stanley will leave. Potentially he is our future franchise player and the club will hold onto him. As for the others, it's up to Price. Sure, like Pricey stated in the press conference, he has got a job to do as assistant but he also has a job to do as future head coach. One of those jobs is the finalising of next years roster. It will be up to Price to hold on to the fringe players like Bosden, etc.

As an aside, I wonder if Pricey does a stint in the coaches box this season for a couple of games.


What I'm interested in is the backroom staff. Bennett brought in basically everyone so I'd be suprised if he didn't take almost everyone. Bennett is the best coach, no doubt, but the staff gives him the platform to work with.


I cannot fault the condition and preparation of our players. We are one of the fittest teams and don't suffer many injuries. This was a huge factor in us winning the premiership.

I think only Boyd and Emmett will go. The big problem will be the backroom staff. Hard to replace in a couple of months and then price has to form a relationship with them. Maybe Graig Young will help sort some of this out.

he will take all the staff with him,he bought them their with him,the only ones that will stay will be steve price obviously and craig young,maybe scott campbell the strength & conditioning coach might be a chance of staying as he as been at saints before,andrew grey the physio will be their as well as he has been at saints for a long time,hickmans and a couple of the good sort chicks that work their are his staff,ive got a lot of confidence in steve price as long as the club doesn't go down the track of going back to the old ways of jobs for the boys club and employ his mates,he can't be wayne bennett,you look at craig bellamy who learnt his trade under wayne and maybe pricey could be the next student to graduate from waynes school.
